The film starred Mahesh Babu, Shriya Saran, Keerthi Reddy, Raja Abel, Prakashraj, Saritha and Murali Mohan. Upon release the film became a moderate hit at the box office, with Mahesh babu receiving the Nandi Special Jury Award. The film was screened at the International Film Festival of India in the mainstream section. dubbed in Hindi as maidan-e-jung.
Synopsis
Arjun (Mahesh Babu) and his twin sister Meenakshi (Keerthi Reddy) finish college. During college days Meenakshi falls in love with her classmate, which she expresses later to her family when she is shown proposals from others. Arjun sets out to Madurai in Tamil Nadu where Uday is about to get married who also awaits for Meenakshi, to elope with. Arjun makes a dramatic appearance, with no apparent disapproval from the parents Meenakshi gets married to Uday. Meanwhile Arjun meets a girl, (Shriya Saran) who happens to be from Madurai too. After the marriage Uday's parents (Prakash Raj, Saritha) secretly plan to kill Meenakshi as they had lost a chance to grab a millionaire's property by the arranged marriage. How Arjun meets the plans to kill his sister and saves each time forms the crux of the story.Acteurs

Ajay is a Hyderabad-based Kabbadi player who visits Kurnool to take part in a state-level tournament. There, he saves Swapna from Obul Reddy, a dangerous faction leader, who is in love with Swapna and wants to marry her against her wishes. Tirupathi (Nitin Kumar Reddy) is a brilliant man who wants to become a realtor, much to the chagrin of his father (Chandramohan), who doesn't support his goal. During the political realm of N. T. Way back in 1800's, on a Diwali midnight, a zamindar insults Goddess Durga by try stealing her idol in the temple in a state of inebriation and gets killed by the enraged Goddess Durga who puts a curse on his heirs that she is going to take one family member each every 48 years on the day of Diwali and one male heir dies accidentally at the end of every 48 years. The present year denotes end of another 48 years and the Target of Durga is Murari, the Grandson of Sabari whose husband died 48 years back because of the curse. He is survived by his father Sattipandu, brothers Sreenayya, Baachi and Soori and their respective wives and kids along with Sabari. Murari is named after Sabari's husband and thus is called with utmost respect by all family members except Gopi who calls him either by his name or as Kanayya. She treats him like her son and even decides to go for abortion clandestinely so that she would not neglect him once she has her own offspring. Thus since his childhood Murari considers Gopi as his mother since his mother died giving birth to him.

Shankar is an orphan raised by a sincere police officer Raja Rao. In an unexpected situation, Raja Rao's son Bharath kills a kid and Shankar takes the blame on him and is imprisoned while Raja Rao warns him not to meet him again. Anjali (Shriya Saran) is the daughter of a millionaire Vishwanath (Prakash Raj) who loves his daughter very much. So much that he even buys her an Icecream Parlor when his daughter asks him for an ice cream. What Vishwanath expects is a son-in-law who will never oppose him in any matter. Rishi (Tarun) hails from a middle-class family. His father, played by Chandramohan, owns a department store. He is a good-hearted but happy-go-lucky guy. Anjali happens to join the college in which Rishi is a senior. Soon, they fall in love with each other. On one occasion, Rishi takes Anjali to Mumbai for dinner. Anjali tries to shake off the issue with her father, saying that she was with one of her friends. But unfortunately, Vishwanath calls that friend up when Anjali was missing. He tells him that Anjali went to Mumbai with someone called Rishi. This is enough for Vishwanath's suspicion to rise that Anjali has fallen in love. He asks Rishi to prove his worth and asks him in some way to earn any money so that he can support Anjali, who he has brought up in riches. When Rishi refuses to comply, he gives Rishi one crore rupees to forget his daughter. Rishi takes it and then later gives it back, insulting Viswanath, and tries to prove that his love is greater than everything and money can't buy his love. To retaliate, Vishwanath insults Rishi's family by getting a beggar for marriage with Rishi's sister to try to convey to them the pain he must feel. Rishi then creates a scene in Viswanath's office beating up security guy and destroying computers in the office, Rishi clarifies that in the proposal that beggar be married to Rishi's sister there is no love between the two, but Rishi and Anjali love each other. Anjali starts to show more feelings for Rishi. Worried, Vishwanath tries to set Anjali's marriage with another guy. Anjali meets Rishi at his home and requests him to marry her right at the moment, but Rishi convinces Anjali that this is not the right way. Rishi takes her back to her home, there Rishi challenges Vishwanath that if it is correct that Anjali getting married to some one else then that marriage can't be stopped, but if it is wrong then that marriage cannot happen. Through some more incidents that Vishwanath realizes his mistakes and the arranged marriage fails and Anjali marries Rishi.
