Nithya (Shobana) is the deputy commissioner of the city who lives with her Valliyachan (Janardhanan) since both her parents were killed in an accident. She was put on to investigate a corruption case done by the Home Minister and his friend a business man called Rajan Phillip (Cochin Haneefa). Unknowingly she was helped in the investigation by a criminal nicknamed Superman (Jayaram). Superman aka Harikrishnan nurtures a vendetta with the home minister and rajan phillip and uses Nithya to trap his enemies. In the whole process Superman uses Judiciary as his weapon, by providing vital evidences to Nithya at times in order to collect evidences Superman himself breaks the law, but as it is for the greater good it is forgiven by Nithya in the end.

Nandagopal (Suresh Gopi), an associate editor with Keralareshmi, one of the leading dailies, is aggressive and daring and enjoys a good reputation among the media circle. Born and brought up in Mumbai, Nandan is the son of Venugopal, a daring journalist who was killed by textile mafia long back. Nandan, in Kochi meets Sekharan (Murali), an old naxalite who is running Jagratha, a newspaper which is feared by political class. Arul (Vikram), who works in a mill, is the third son of four brothers in a family of goldsmiths. Once, Arul's brother steals a chain due to financial circumstances. As Arul had taken the blame for it, he was labelled as a "thief" and seen as a black sheep by his father. Thus, he vows never to make a gold ornament ever again, takes up a job and pays for his expenses. Kanmani (Jyothika), who moves into the opposite house, begins by playing tricks on him, but eventually falls for his character. Arul doesn't believe in love, and keeps his distance from her. One day, when Arul's father scolds him in the temple, Kanmani stands up for him. Arul's father insults her by telling her "Arul's siblings are keeping quiet. Why are you making noise as though you have slept with him?" In a fit of anger, Arul marries Kanmani. Arul then realizes his love for her. The setting up of the party office of the ruling party forces Arul to lock horns with Gajapathy (Pasupathy), the local MLA, and his brother Sethupathy (Kollam Thulasi), the party leader. How Arul defeats the bad guy forms the rest of the story.

The movie is set into motion when a large cache of arms is discovered in the land belonging to the local businessman Hussein Sahib (Rizabawa). On investigation, Inspector Varma (Mukesh) finds that Hussein Sahib has no idea about this, but the land was used by someone called Anali Bhaskaran. The Inspector, along with his colleagues Sudhakaran (Jagadeesh) go to arrest Bhaskaran, but they are given a good fight. As the police are being beaten, the screen alternates between a police jeep appearing on the scene and Anali Bhaskaran trying to knife people. Suddenly a hand appears in the scene and beats Bhaskaran.
