Saugat Malla is an Nepalese actor; popular for the role Nepali descent people and speak typical Nepali tone. He is one of the notable Nepali Actor in the Nepali film industry who starred in the hit 2008 Nepali Movie Kagbeni. After he gained critical recognition for his work he was signed for movie Loot by Nischal Basnet. He became widely popular after his astonishing work in movie Loot and also considered one of the excellent modern era actors in Nepal. He has done numerous movies in Nepal industry and well known as 'Hakku Kale' across Nepal. His famous phrase ' Ball haina pasa dimag laga which translates as (Use your mind instead of force) in English became a popular catchphrase and is still used widely among teenagers and youngsters in Nepal. He is currently working on Upcoming Nepali movies and says ' He will do best of his ability'.

Set against the backdrop of the new culture of bandhs (general strikes) that frequently immobilize post-conflict Nepal, Highway explores five different relationship stories that become intertwined during an ill-fated bus journey from eastern Nepal to the capital, Kathmandu. The story begins with Krishna (Nima Rumba) coming to a village to meet Ramesh (Saugat Malla) and Bishnu (Hanif Mohammed) who have been his childhood friends. Krishna is back from Malaysia after a long time. Ramesh runs a small liquor business. Although the money he earns is able to fulfill his basic needs to eat and survive, he’s not satisfied. He says that life is not easy as he had thought. Krishna says that although there is money in Malaysia, there is also hard work and suggests Ramesh to send his liquor to town to sell for more profit. Ramesh tells Krishna that he’s going to a neighboring village Marpha and Krishna tags along to meet Amo (his aunt).
