Aanai (English: Order) is a 2005 Tamil language Indian action film written and directed by Selva. It stars 'Action King' Arjun, Namitha and Keerthi Chawla in the lead, while Vadivelu, Sanghavi and Manoj K. Jayan play pivotal roles. D. Imman composed the soundtrack, while Shiva was the cinematographer for the venture which released in December 2005.
The film is a remake of the Hollywood film Man on Fire, starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning. The film's Hindi Bollywood remake, Ek Ajnabee, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, was released a week later.

The film opens with a flashback showing the family feud between families of Prabhakaran (Vijayakanth) and Bhavani (Indraja). Prabhakaran and Bhavani are in love. The murder of Bhavani's father, is wrongly accused on SP's father. He starts to help Bhavani's family and mortgages his own house to finance her factory with the intention of making it up to them as he still believes that it's his father who killed Bhavani's father. But Bhavani is now trying to take revenge for her father's murder. SP's mother is now on her deathbed. While in the hospital, his mom tells how his father had a different wife and he should ask them forgiveness. He storms into Bhavani's house and accuses her uncle (who really killed Bhavni's dad), also trying to make her understand the truth but she doesn't believe him. Then Prabhakaran says he doesn't love her any more and vows that he will never trust a woman by remaining a chronic bachelor forever.

Two villages on either side of a river are always feuding as the headmen Veerasamy (Vinu Chakravarthy) and Sethupathy (FEFSI Vijayan) have personal enmity. Soorya(Arjun), assisted by Baby(Laila), is a conman whose services can be bought by anyone for the right price. His tricks result in the dismissal of both the Assistant Commissioner (Ilavarasu) and his brother, the Police minister(Rajkapoor). So they seek the help of Pasupathy(Sobhraj), another dada in Madras. When Pasupathy is recruited by a goon from Calcutta to kidnap the Kancheepuram collector, Soorya decides to foil his plan and save the collector. Pugazh (Vijay) is an IITian and Oxford alumnus with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. With the help of his friend, Inspector Joseph (Manoj K. Jayan), he succeeds in tracking down a wanted criminal Raaka (Adithya), and kills him. The scene then shifts to a village, where Pugazh is attending the wedding of a Tahsildar's daughter. The film deals with the social stigma associated with a handicapped girl in a rural milieu. Murali is a potter by profession. He has a sister, who is born dumb. Murali has to struggle a lot as the handicraft industry is a dying industry and a good amount of money is taken away by his father (Manivannan), who is a drunkard and a gambler. But, he tries to hide his sorrows by having fun with his sister and servant (Vadivelu), who is also his trusted friend. He is in love with his neighbour (Meena), a weaver. He wants to get his sister married to a noble man. But many reject her as she is dumb. Finally, one man agrees to marry his sister but on condition that Murali must offer dowry. Murali then sells many things dearer to him to get money for the dowry. But, that money is taken away by his father and the marriage falls through. Yet Vadivelu offers to marry his sister without asking dowry and Murali goes home along with Vadivelu to convey this happy news to his sister. But it was too late as the sister commits suicide. Murali as a penance decides to marry a handicapped girl.

The story begins with four friends Ram Murthy (Satyanarayana) hotel Server, Damodaram (Rao Gopal Rao) Photographer, Kotaiah (Nutan Prasad) Chariot Rider, Bhadraiah (Bheemiswara Rao) bandmaster. Initially reluctant, he agrees to help Sandhya and drops the phone off at a police station. The cop Guru (Riteesh) talks to her but is distracted by another problem and so Sandhya has to bank on Shakti again.
