ආසයි මං පියාඹන්න Asai Man Piyambanna is a 2007 Sinhala Romantic/Drama film written and directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya. Asai Man Piyambanna is the Sri Lankan version of the Hindi musical drama romance film Taal. The film features Roshan Ranawana and Pooja Umashankar in the leading roles while Gayathri Dias, Shiran Silva, Nalin Pradeep Udawela and Sanath Gunatilaka also play key supporting roles. Produced by Dhammika Siriwardana, the film had music scored by Rohana Weerasinghe. It released in November 2007 and was a big hit in Sri Lankan Film History in that year. It also received good reviews from Critics.

Jagan (R. Madhavan) and Jamuna (Amoga) meet in a shopping mall in Chennai. They like each other and spend a day chatting in the coffee shop. Jamuna, a believer in destiny, writes down her address and telephone number on a Rs.100 note and makes the payment at the cafe declaring that if the note comes back to Jagan then it means that he was destined to meet her. He tries hard to trace the note but in vain. Jamuna goes back to Kolkata. Meanwhile Pooja (Pooja), who was rescued by Madhavan from some thugs, has a crush on him. Finally Jagan manages to get Jamuna address on the eve of her wedding and unites with her.

Okkaka (Ravindra Randeniya) is the emperor of India. He rules from Kusawathie city, with his queen Seelawathie (Veena Jayakody) and two sons Kusa (Jackson Anthony) and Jayampathi (Roshan Ranawana). Kusa is strong, competent in all crafts and warfare but has an ugly oil cake shaped face. Therefore he realizes that no woman will like to marry him and is not interested in marriage. Queen orders two royal servants (Mahinda Pathirage and Mahendra Perera) to take the statue to all countries and find a woman looks alike the statue. After a long unsuccessful search, two royal servants arrive at Madura city, the capital of Madura kingdom, on the season of spring festival. Madura is a state under the control of Okkaka's empire. They place the statue near the river. Then the nanny of the royal family of Madura kingdom,Kudi (Kudi means hunchbacked woman) (Chandani Seneviratne) comes there and slaps the statue, because she recognized the statue as the princess Pabawathie (Pooja Umashankar), the daughter of king Madu (Palitha Silva), the king of Madura kingdom and his queen (Kusum Renu). Since a woman looks alike the statue is found, the marriage is arranged. Pabawathie is taken to Kusawathie city. Wedding is conducted without a groom.

The plot begins in a remote village in Tamil Nadu named Pannaipuram (the birthplace of director Venkat Prabhu).
