Harichandra is a 1998 Tamil language film directed by Cheyyar Ravi. The film features Karthik Muthuraman and Meena. It was later Remade in Telugu as Harischandraa starred by J.D. Chakravarthy and Raasi in lead roles.
Synopsis
A movie about a guy whose name his Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) who always lies and cheats everyone. But no matter what, nobody knows that he is a big liar and a cheat and still continues to believe him. Then he meets a school principal Nandhini (Meena) for a shooting purpose. Later he falls in love with her, thus he tries to cheat and lie to impress Nandhini (Meena). But this time Nandhini (Meena) was clever enough to identify all his lies and cheats but no matter what they still reunite again after every quarrel and fights. Quarrel and fights lasted till their wedding moment but eventually at the end only everyone know that no matter Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) lies and cheats people he is still a good human being. Thus Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) and Nandhini (Meena) got married and lived happily.Acteurs

Raju (Karthik Muthuraman) and his sidekicks (Chinni Jayanth, Vadivelu and Thyagu) stole black money to help an orphanage. D.I.G. Mohanraj knew that they are thieves but he's unable to send them in jail. Raju and Radhika (Sivaranjani), Mohanraj's daughter, failed in love. Her father refuses to accept it so he arranged a marriage with Ajith (Udaya Prakash), a police officer. Raju drank alcohol and he became drunk, and he killed Ajith. When he came back to his car, there was Raju drunk at the back seat. Raju's look-alike said his flashback. His name was Somasekhar, fell in love with Bhavani (Kushboo Sundar) and married her. She worked at Chatterjee's (Nasser) Ganja estate. Chatterjee wanted Somasekhar's estate but Somasekhar didn't want to sell it to a criminal. Chatterjee's henchmen killed his wife who gave birth to a girl. Somasekhar, wounded, can't do anything. Few years later, Ajith kidnapped his daughter. Somasekhar, after told the flashback, reveals to Raju that he still will kill 2 people as Raju. Somasekhar went, to his daughter's nanny home who also worked for Chatterjee, as Raju and she asked him to be Somasekhar for some days. Raju's lover and his friends came to see him but Somasekhar advised to go to a place, they went there and Somasekhar's friend kidnapped them like Raju. Finally, they managed to escape. Somasekhar found where his child was kidnapped. Chatterjee caught Raju and Somasekhar. Somasekhar revealed that he gave his property and his daughter to Raju. Somasekhar killed Chatterjee and died.

The film takes place in a village after which the movie is titled. Revathy leads a cloistered life and does not visit anyone. She is worshipped as a holy lad upon whom the god comes down to give them orders periodically. Revathy was an orphan and is found by Janagaraj, who is a street performer. They go from house to house begging for food. One day a lonely woman, Sulakshana,(a secret prostitute of the village high man) accepts Revathy as her own daughter and janagaraj as her brother, into her own house and provides for them. After 10 years, revathy attains age and some days later finds sulakshan's occupation. She and janagaraj attempt to leave her house, but sulakshana suddenly falls ill and this stops their exit . After Sulakshana's death, Vijaykakumar, the head of the village, tries to take advantage of Revathi. But Revathi keeps dodging him and keeps herself chaste.

When the movie opens Devan(Arun Pandiyan) murdering photographer Jeeva(Thalaivasal Vijay) in cold blood in his house. Jeeva strategically positions a video camera to capture the impending murder but Devan never shows his face to it. And when Jeeva shouts out the name of his killer before dying, the audio is lost at that point. While the police search for the killer, Devan zeroes in on Chetta (Saikumar) as his next target. He follows Chetta to Chandigarh but is apprehended by CBI officer Ratnavel(Vijayakanth). But once Ratnavel realises Chetta's true nature, he begins to help Devan, even hiring successful lawyer Chakravarthy(Karthik) to fight for him.
