The film features Prabhu and Kausalya in lead roles whilst Karthik, Vivek and Ponnambalam play supporting roles. It was remade in Telugu as Choosoddaam Randi with Srikanth and Rambha in lead roles.Ajay Laxman has acted as a child actor in a song Gopala Gopala. Vivek, while dancing lifts him, and it was not a pre-planned scene.

When the movie opens Devan(Arun Pandiyan) murdering photographer Jeeva(Thalaivasal Vijay) in cold blood in his house. Jeeva strategically positions a video camera to capture the impending murder but Devan never shows his face to it. And when Jeeva shouts out the name of his killer before dying, the audio is lost at that point. While the police search for the killer, Devan zeroes in on Chetta (Saikumar) as his next target. He follows Chetta to Chandigarh but is apprehended by CBI officer Ratnavel(Vijayakanth). But once Ratnavel realises Chetta's true nature, he begins to help Devan, even hiring successful lawyer Chakravarthy(Karthik) to fight for him.

A movie about a guy whose name his Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) who always lies and cheats everyone. But no matter what, nobody knows that he is a big liar and a cheat and still continues to believe him. Then he meets a school principal Nandhini (Meena) for a shooting purpose. Later he falls in love with her, thus he tries to cheat and lie to impress Nandhini (Meena). But this time Nandhini (Meena) was clever enough to identify all his lies and cheats but no matter what they still reunite again after every quarrel and fights. Quarrel and fights lasted till their wedding moment but eventually at the end only everyone know that no matter Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) lies and cheats people he is still a good human being. Thus Harichandra (Karthik Muthuraman) and Nandhini (Meena) got married and lived happily.

The film starts with a flashback. ACP Bose (karthik) is a sincere police officer happily married and lives with his parents and younger brother velu (arunvijay). Shakthi(Jayam Ravi) and Chinnasamy(Soori) are family enemies who fight over an election. During that time, Shakthi falls in love with Anjali, whom he later discovers is his enemies cousin. When their love rapidly heats up, Shakthi is forced to marry Divya(Trisha), a city girl. Before starting a life together, Divya tells Shakthi, they must get to know each other, but every time Shakthi tries to do something good, it ends bad. This leads them on a plan for divorce. In exchange, Shakthi tells Divya to agree and stay for a month with his parents so they won't get hurt over the fact that they made Shakthi marry someone who doesn't even like him. To make this worse, Shakthi's father gets Divya to stand for the female election to which she quietly agrees. When she loses in the family generation winning election, Shakthi's father angrily hits him. . That's when Shakthi reveals how he lost in love and life. Seeing how much he loves and respects his family and how his life has been, Divya slowly starts to like her husband. At the end Divya and Shakthi happily live together while they argue over little things; making their life filled with love.

On the other hand, Boominathan's son, Chandru (Karthik) is determinated to find his father's murderer. The rest of the story is what happens to Thyagu and Chandru who is the real culprit.

When this happens at a concert, Seenu fills in for him and sings. While he intended this to be a one-time affair, his singing catches the public's fancy and he becomes more popular than Kesavan. This makes Kesavan jealous and he starts hating Seenu. Kesavan leaves home, Seenu searches for him, only to receive the news that he is dead. In the climax, Seenu becomes a famous singer and credits his brother as the reason for his success.
