Synopsis

Charlie Samson (Murray) is a hard-working married bookkeeper, struggling to advance himself by attending night school to become an accountant. He and four co-workers throw a bachelor party for a fellow bookkeeper, Arnold Craig (Philip Abbott), who is about to get married. After the party, they decide to go bar-hopping. Charlie is to be Arnold's best man.

Ira Hayes était un Indien Pima qui a quitté la réserve à se joindre aux États-Unis Marine Corps. Lors de la bataille d'Iwo Jima, Hayes et compagnie ont été photographiées planter le drapeau américain au sommet du Mont Suribachi. L'événement a été happé par un photographe qui a capturé le moment après une bataille sanglante contre l'ennemi japonais. L'image a servi de modèle pour le Mont sculpture suribachi Memorial à Washington, DC Le film prend certaines libertés avec une précision historique avec Hayes (Tony Curtis) meurt dix ans plus tard de l'alcoolisme. Cette version aurait le spectateur croire ses ennuis avec la bouteille a été provoquée par la mort de mon pote Marine Sorenson (James Franciscus).
