Nanjundi Kalyana is an 1989 Indian Kannada romantic comedy film directed by M. S. Rajashekar and starring Raghavendra Rajkumar, with Malashri, Girija Lokesh and Sunder Krishna Urs as the lead cast. The film was a major blockbuster of the year and was one among the biggest grossers of 1989.
Synopsis
This is a family drama movie which starts with Gauri Ganesha festival. During offering pooja to goddess Gauri, Girija Lokesh(mother of Raghuchandra)receives money order as gift of festival from her brother. She is excited at the affection of her brother on sending the gift. Seeing this father of raghuchandra remembers his past of having his sister and brother in law(Sunder Krishna Urs) leaving in his home and on this festival when he gives gift to his sister,the brother in law fights for some reason and lives the home with his wife.The father tells his son(Raghuchandra) these past feelings and says that at childhood he and his sister had thought of marrying Raghavendra Rajkumar(Raghuchandra) with Malashri.
A police constable, Venkatappa (Srinivasa Murthy) meets Bellary Bhagyalakshmi (Malashri), a fraud and tells her his daughter, Kiran Bedi's (Malashri) story. Kiran was a police officer in Bangalore and resembled Bellary. There is a crime nexus run by Bhoopathy (Ashish Vidyarthi), his partners Naga (Kote), Mobile Nachappa (Rangayana Raghu), D'Souza and Muni in Bangalore. Bhoopathy's daughter Vicky murders a young civil service student, Shweta. Bhoopathy hides Vicky in Bhadramma's (Telangana Shakuntala) house. Kiran finds Vicky and kills him and Bhadramma. Bhoopathy, in a fit of rage, manages to kill Kiran. Venkatappa now requests Bellary to become Kiran Bedi and finish Bhoopathy and his associates. Bellary accepts after listening to the story and getting money for it. Bellary targets the whole nexus of Bhoopathy and slowly starts taking them down. But soon Bellary's identity is revealed in the court. Full of remorse, she enters civil services and becomes a real police officer finishing Bhoopathy.
