Synopsis
The Stooges are mistaken for three armored car thieves after getting caught in crossfire. Captain Mullin (Vernon Dent) gives the boys a lie detector test, but finds no reason to hold them. He releases them, and they return to work at their restaurant, the Elite Café. Friend Gladys Harmon (Christine McIntyre) stops by the restaurant just as one of the real armored car bandits flees the scene. They then chase the bandit to a spooky old mansion where they and their hideous hatchet man, Angel (Duke York), are hiding. When the mob abducts Gladys, the Stooges come to her rescue and retrieve the stolen money.Acteurs

The Stooges are carpetlayers working at the home of Professor Sneed (Emil Sitka) and his daughter (Christine McIntyre). Sneed is developing a rocket fuel in secret for the government. Anemian spy Captain Rork (Philip Van Zandt) watches the professor through his front window, with hopes of kidnapping him. Of course, the Anemians capture the Stooges instead, mistaking Larry for the professor. Trouble brews when the Stooges are required to whip up some the fuel, and then write down the formula. It does not take long for the Anemians to capture the real Professor Sneed, along with his daughter, and throw them in jail until the formula is disclosed. Thanks to a shy prison guard (Jock Mahoney) who cannot help but flirt with Sneed's daughter, the group make a quick exit.

The Stooges are wannabe detectives who inadvertently get their chance to crack a case in Scotland. They manage to stumble on a lead concerning the priceless Punjab diamond being stolen by a crook named Dapper (Kenneth MacDonald). With dreams of becoming genuine detectives, the trio head for Squid McGuffy's cafe asking for the whereabouts of Dapper. They manage to convince everyone at the restaurant that they are actually police.

Realizing their error, the trio hop the train to Vegas to catch up with the thief, though not before accidentally freeing a lion from the baggage car. The Stooges run a tailor shop that is about to be repossessed by the Skin and Flint Finance Corporation. When the boys hear about a big reward for fugitive bank robber Terry "Slippery Fingers" Hargan (Harold Brauer), they think that catching him might end their financial woes. Hargan conveniently ducks into their shop and leaves a suit jacket with a safe combination in its pocket. After quietly sneaking back into the shop while the Stooges are elsewhere searching for clues, Hargan snatches a handful of suit jackets in hopes of retrieving the combination. He then later returns with his henchmen, and a wild mêlée follows. The Stooges end up getting the reward to pay off their debts and, with a stroke of luck, wind up with the crook's bankroll as well.

Moe and Larry marry Shemp's overweight sisters (Lou Leonard and Maxine Gates), and discover to their horror after the vows that the girls are a couple of battle axes. The Stooges are three paperhangers who also look after invalid Mary, who uses a wheelchair. While working, they are taken by one poster that advertises a great hypnotist, Svengarlic ("He'll steal your breath away!" the poster announces). After serving in the Army, the stooges decide to head off to college and major in criminology. Graduating with the lowest possible honors, the boys join the police force and they receive an assignment, which is to search for a bandit called the Eel who is going to rob the Biltless Hotel. They go to the hotel, but fail to catch the criminal or retrieve the money he stole. As a result, they are booted off the force and the three end up as ditch diggers.

On his deathbed, Shemp struggles between life and death as Moe and Larry attempt to nurse him back to health. He warns them to behave or he will return to haunt them. After Shemp's arrival to Heaven, his Uncle Mortimer contemplates whether Shemp will remain or go to Hell. Then the Devil (Philip Van Zandt) appears in a burst of flame to tempt Shemp with a sultry dancer, Hellen Blazes (Sylvia Lewis). Uncle Mortimer intervenes, promising Shemp eternity in Heaven if he returns to Earth unseen and unheard and reforms Moe and Larry.
