As described in a film publication, to avenge his father's death Pierre Winton (Carey) turns outlaw and joins a band of bandits headed by Jim Boone (MacDonald). McGuirk (McKim), a lone bandit, is the object of his search and war is declared between the lone rider and Boone's band. Pierre goes to a masquerade ball one night and returns to find every member of Boone's band dead except for Jim's daughter Jackie (Burnham). On the way to the ranch Ned is bitten by a rattlesnake and is nursed by Mary Radford (Novak), who is writing a western novel. Ranch foreman Dave Leviatt (Le Moyne) tells Ned that Mary's brother Ben (Paul) is behind the rustling. After Ben and Ned come to an understanding, Dave shoots Ben from undercover, and Ben is sure that Ned double-crossed him. Mary will have nothing to do with Ned, even after Ned saves her life during a cattle stampede. Fadeaway (Charles Le Moyne), a bad cowboy, insults Anita (Mignonne Golden), daughter of the chief sheepherder, and Sundown exacts reprisal. Billy (Ted Brooks), Sundown's pal, is induced by Fadeaway to rob a bank. Sundown takes the blame and goes to jail. In the feud between sheepmen and cattlemen, Billy is nursed by Anita. The two learn to care for each other, and when Sundown is released from jail and goes to Anita, he sees the situation and surrenders her to Billy, again taking up to lone trail. , 58minutes

Meanwhile, in Chicago, Estelle Halloway is disappointed because her guardian wrote that she would not be able to spend her holidays with him in Calexico as planned. When she wires him that she will come nevertheless with her room-mate Marguerite and her brother, he tells her that they will meet instead neat the Grand Canyon as it is too warm in Calexico.
