SenthilSivaji is a director whose dream project is to make the love saga of Salim-Anarkali. After a long search for an apt girl to fit into the role of Anarkali, he finds it in a beggar girl (Nalini). He starts the movie with Nalini as Anarkali. K.R.Vijaya, wife of Sivaji starts suspecting Sivaji-Nalini relationship and this results in a mess inside their family. Nalini comes to know of this and feels that because of her, her mentor's life should not be in a mess, she leaves them without notice. Sivaji stops the project. Years pass by...Sivaji has a son now...Prabhu who is into spirituality and wishes to lead life as a brahmachari. Sivaji in one occasion, watches a dance by Bhuvani and jumps in glory that he has again found his anarkali in that danseuse. He comes to know that the girl who danced was none other than Nalini's daughter. Nalini's daughter (Bhuvani) is now chosen as Anarkali and Prabhu is selected as Salim. Prabhu and Bhuvani falls in love in real life too. K.R. vijaya comes to know of this and opposes this relationship suspecting that Bhuvani is Nalini's daughter through Sivaji. As the drama unfolds finally Prabhu and Bhuvani dies by intaking poison in a touching climax. , 2h16

A village in Coimbatore district. Sengodan is a naïve good-hearted farmer, who knows no other God other than his mother Angamma. Staying back in the hamlet and tilling his land, he sends his beloved sister Thangam to the college in the town. Angamma’s brother is an avaricious landowner in the same village. The two families are not in speaking terms ever since Angamma’s husband ran away unable to meet the unreasonable demands of his brother-in-law after having borrowed some money from him. Kannan, the villain’s son, however does not inherit his father’s wily characteristics. Studying in the same college, Kannan and Thangam fall in love with each other. The storm which breaks out when the warring families become aware of their love and the how the lovers unite finally fill rest of the reels. Gopal Sivaji Ganesan and Gowri K. R. Vijaya are salespeople in competing organisations. They are professional rivals and end up sharing rooms in the same house belonging to an English. Naidu M. R. R. Vasu and his Kannada wife Manorama are caretakers of the house where Mohan and Gowri stay. Gopal and Gowri get married and both quit their jobs on the same day. Naidu and his wife lend them some money to start a business. Gopal's business becomes successful and Gowri and Mohan have a son and are about to have another baby. A Punjabi family led by Baldev Singh ('Major' Sundararajan) move into one of the portions. A Malayalee Muslim led by Ibrahim (V K Ramasamy) family take up residence in other part of the same house. After some initial hiccups, the four families settle down and become close friends. Gopal's secretary Kamala tries to vamp him and her brother takes a photo of the two of them together and begins to blackmail Gopal. His neighbours help him fight off the blackmailer and this seals the bond between them even more strongly. When the house owner decides to sell the house and return to England, the families buy the house together with Gopal paying Naidu's share. They call the house Bharatha Vilas, since it houses people from all parts of the country. The movie catches up with the residents of Bharatha Vilas after many years. Gopal is now even more successful and slightly arrogant about his wealth. His daughter is very close to Ibrahim's family and considers his son Hamid as her brother. Someone sends an anonymous letter about their relationship and Gopal cuts off all contact with Ibrahim and fixes his daughter's wedding with one of his relatives.
