Sohni Mahiwal is a 1946 Hindi/Urdu romantic drama film produced in Mumbai by Jayant Desai Productions. It was directed by Ishwarlal and Ravindra Jaykar. The title is derived from a folk story about Sohni Mahiwal. The film starred Begum Para in the lead role as Sohni, along with Ishwarlal, Mubarak, Dixit and Shobha.

Pratap (Sunil Dutt) is accused of murdering the wealthy Seth Maganbhai Mehta. At first, Pratap is derisive of Anokhi and her friends. He soon realises the camaraderie they share and their inherent goodness. He slowly wins them over and changes their erring ways. Set in the royal court of Janakgarh, the film opens with the palace coup led by the villainous Mangal Singh, resulting in the deaths of the king and queen. Princess Kamala (Madhubala) and her sister are spirited out the court and given over to a family of untouchables. Later, both princesses fall in love with a rakish artist (Kapoor), resulting in Kamala committing suicide.
