Synopsis
Nouvellement wed le couple s'assoient sur un train quand le mari reçoit un télégramme urgent. Quand il descend à une station pour faire un coup de téléphone le train se détache sans lui. Après les années de fouiller sa femme le retrouve finalement sur l'état du sud de sa famille, où elle découvre qu'un traitement médical raté a eu un effet horrible sur lui.Acteurs

Un premier meurtre sanglant dont la victime est une jeune fille est commis Rue Morgue à Paris. La victime a été atrocement démembrée, l'appartement est dévasté. Elle porte au poignet un bracelet hermétique munie de clochettes. D'autres crimes sont perpétrés dans la foulée (toujours de belles jeunes filles), toujours le même bracelet. L'assassin s'enfuit par les toits avec une extraordinaire agilité. Le commissaire Bonnard chargé de l'enquête se perd en conjectures et finit par accuser le Professeur Georges Dupin, l'assistant de Marais, un biologiste de renom qui possède un zoo et se livre à d'étranges expériences psychologiques. Marais est amoureux de la fiancée de Dupin, Jeannette, l'invite chez lui, lui montre un énorme gorille caché dans la cave tout en évoquant le souvenir de sa jeune et belle épouse qui s'est suicidée 5 ans plus tôt.Toutes les preuves semblent accabler Dupin, mais alors que ce dernier est incarcéré et nie farouchement, un nouveau meurtre est commis…il y a des témoins, il s'agit bien d'un singe et il faut faire vite car Jeannette est prisonnière de Marais qui lui a offert un bracelet à clochettes. Dupin soumet sa théorie à Bonnard.

George Morris constantly lies to his wife, Helen, to hide his escapades. As he is about to leave his wife, some guests arrives, including Paul Wilcox, who is in love with Helen. By the end of the party, however, George and Helen have reconciled yet again. Soon after, George meets Joan Whitley and loses a lighter which his wife has given him; Whitley drives off with it. Brown plays Gink Schiner, a third-rate fighter who is at the same training camp as Georges La Verne (played by Georges Carpentier), a contender for the heavyweight championship. Although he needs to be concentrating all of his energies on the upcoming bout, Georges keeps getting distracted: Norine Lloyd, a society dame, has a distinct interest in him, but the interest is strictly one-sided. Georges prefers Sue, an old buddy and confidante. Gink has woman trouble of his own, as his flirtations do not sit at all well with Toots (played by Winnie Lightner), his erstwhile girlfriend. More trouble arrives when Larkin, manager of current heavyweight champ Bob Morgan, appears at the camp with the goal of fixing the fight. He is sent packing, after which he attempts to slip a Mickey Finn to the challenger—a plan which goes awry when Gink switches the drinks. Meanwhile, Gink, who is fighting in a preliminary in advance of the big fight, actually wins. Things don't look so bright for Georges, who initially gets the worst of it in his encounter with Morgan, but who eventually comes out on top.

Geoffrey West and Marion Ferguson (Grant Withers and Loretta Young), two American tourists in London, meet each other at a London hotel while eating breakfast. Both are reading the personal columns of The Times. The next day Withers inserts an ad, under the alias of Lord Strawberries, which requests her friendship. Ferguson, using the alias of Lady Grapefruit, places an ad in reply which suggests that he write a series of five letters proving himself worth knowing. West makes up a fabulous story about a murder mystery based on the things he has heard his upstairs neighbors arguing about. Ferguson's aunt, who disapproves of West, suspects West is the murderer and contacts Scotland Yard. West's neighbor (the one he mentioned in his letters) is found dead and the police immediately suspect West and Ferguson as being involved in the murder. The real murderer, when he hears they are prime suspects, then attempts to frame them.

The story takes place during World War I. The action opens on a French battlefield. After meeting with German spy Schiller Blacher (Erich von Stroheim), Z-1 (Constance Bennett) is sent on a mission to England. The action then moves into the London home of Sir Winston Chamberlain (William Holden- no relation to the 1950s star of the same name). Sir Winston does not know that that his supposedly faithful butler, Vardar, is actually Blacher. When Z-1, as Frances Hawtree, arrives at the home, Vardar, who is in love with her, believes her to be a loyal German agent, but things turn out otherwise when she prevents him from sending a stolen code back to Germany and thus reveals her true allegiance.
