Veetla Visheshanga (Tamil: வீட்ல விசேஷங்க) is a 1994 Tamil film written and directed by K. Bhagyaraj.

Synopsis

Anand Verma, a widower and father of a child, admits a woman in the hospital who had lost her memory. Since he admitted her in the hospital, the doctor asks him to take care of her until she recovers from amnesia. The doctor names her Asha which is the name of Anand's wife and makes her believe that she is married to Anand and has a child. Due to the circumstances, Anand has to accept the situation and takes her to his house. Asha insists that she does not remember any incident about her life with Anand. To make her believe doctor lies to her that she has a birth mark in the part of the body only known to her husband. He also places photograph of hers with the wedding photo of Anand. Asha yet resists that she cannot remind anything but believes that Anand is her husband and she is a mother of his child.

This story revolves around an unemployed youngster who tries to become rich for his big family. Bhagyaraj is an unemployed gold medalist with 5 younger sisters, and a mother. After many failures, he goes to Chennai in search of job, and meets Radhika. The rest of the movie is about how he succeeds in life and what he ends up with. The best part of the screenplay is its ability to portray many of the existing social conditions in the society including unemployment of educated youth and dowry.

The movies portrays social conditions like dowry, one sided fidelity of woman, honor, illiteracy and other aspects of social life. Mangalam (Sulakshana) is the only daughter of the village elder (Senthamarai) who lives happily and hopes to get married soon. Senthamarai invites Bhagyaraj's family (Father and Step-mother) to come see Mangalam. Mangalam's family loves Bhagyaraj, and Bhagyaraj feels the same about Mangalam. Bhagyaraj's family promise to send their reply later. In the meantime, Bhagyaraj courts Mangalam (though initially shy), and meets Nambiar (Mangalam's uncle). All is well and a date is set to discuss the marriage proposal. During the discussion, Bhagyaraj's step-mother asks for more dowry than Senthamarai can provide and the marriage proposal stops. Senthamarai also opposes the marriage after the talks fall through. Mangalam and bhagraraj attempt to elope fails, and Mangalam is caught by her father who attempts suicide. Bhagyaraj comes to mangalams village to woe her family to give her hand in marriage. Does bhagyaraj succeed in this forms rest of the story.

Can true love change the heart of even a hardened criminal? This is the question thrown at the audience in 'Vidiyumvarai Kaathiru'. Raja (Bhagyaraj) is a hardened criminal, forever plotting to usurp the property of others. He comes to Ooty and wins the confidence of Rajshekar, a rich businessman. Rajshekar develops so much faith in Raja that he gets him married to his own mentally unstable daughter Satya (Satyakala) and bequeaths all his property in her name. He also adds a clause that in case Satya meets with her death, then all the property would go to Raja. Raja plots and makes several attempts to kill Satya, but always fails. At last, he comes to know that all along, Satya has been aware of his plans. She now begs him to surrender to the police as she is in the family way.
