Saswata Chatterjee (শাশ্বত চ্যাটার্জী; also known as Apu) is an Indian actor of television and films based in Kolkata. Born to actor Subhendu Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee began his career with a Hindi serial directed by Saibal Mitra, based on Samaresh Majumdar's Kaalpurush. He gained popularity by portraying the character of Topshe in a Feluda-based television series directed by Sandip Ray. His acting in many Bengali films has been praised by the critics, including his portrayal of a Ritwik Ghatak-inspired character in the 2013 film Meghe Dhaka Tara. He enjoyed success at the national level in Sujoy Ghosh's 2012 blockbuster Hindi film, Kahaani, where he played an assassin.

Par une nuit d’orage, un assassin avance vers sa victime, un poignard à la main. L’homme qu’il est venu tuer voit son visage pendant une fraction de seconde, le temps d’un éclair et le supplie de l’épargner. Mais, l’assassin implacable, le tue et il s’en va, persuadé que personne ne l’a vu. Il se trompe. Caché dans la pénombre, il y avait un enfant, Jagga, le fils de la victime. Celui-ci a assisté au meurtre de son père et il n’a qu’une seule idée en tête : retrouver l’assassin et le faire payer. Cette idée devient vite une obsession qui au fil des années, finit par faire partie de lui-même et fait de Jagga un jeune homme solitaire. Et, comme il a toujours été curieux à propos de tout, il décide en toute logique de devenir détective. Pour sa première affaire, Jagga décide d’honorer la promesse qu’il s’était faite : retrouver l’assassin de son père.
