King Elara was an extremely ambitious young man who used to be a soldier and a spy under King Kharawela of Kalinga, who ruled Southern Kingdoms of India during second century B.C. Lately, this same young man arrives at Lankadveepa in the guise of an overseas naval chief to invade and thereby threaten the prosperity of the Kingdom. Although Elara wins the Kingdom of Rajarata after having killed King Asela, there were two things that constantly bothering him. Firstly, the kingdom of Ruhuna that continued to be independent and therefore out of the menacing clutches of the invader. Secondly, a certain prophecy inscribed by King Devanampiyatissa.

Vadeesha Devaminda Wickramanayaka is a highly creative and sensitive young music student in his school. A special love letter that he finds accidentally, written by Punya, a woman, more mature than him in both age and life, motivates him for some soul searching. He is also haunted by guilt, because he fails to deliver the letter, to who it belongs.His relentless efforts to return the letter to the woman to her lover, fail. Sympathy mixed with emotions of love he feels towards this woman, leads to him creating a song that captures a cathartic experience. This popular creation and many other songs that he gives birth to, for a period of 20 years, makes him a prominent musician in the country. But however, his memories and nostalgia towards Punya make him a failure in his married life. Although he regains his life by returning the letter to Punya after 20 years by chance, she is now left with a feeling of void her life.

In mid-1940s Calcutta, Mother Teresa teaches geography at her convent. One day, she and one of the other sisters go outside the convent to find food for their girls, only to get caught up in a riot. Though they manage to make it back to the convent, Mother Teresa is shocked by the sight of the massive number of people starving in the streets. Haunted by the images of the hungry people, Mother Teresa decides to leave the convent to devote her life to caring for the poorest of the poor.
