Pandhayam (Tamil: பந்தயம்; English: Bet) is a Tamil film directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar starring Nithin Sathya, Sindhu Tolani. Vijay did a guest role as himself.

Synopsis

The story- A local thug and criminal who kills people like mosquitoes Masanam (Prakash Raj) slowly rises up the ranks to be a Minister. We have Shakthivel (Nithin Sathya) a die-hard fan of actor Vijay who studies in a city college. He falls in love with the wicked minister's sister Thulasi (Sindhu Tolani) and challenges him (he has a reason for that) and a cat and mouse game ensues. What follows is a series of incidents between the two that leads to a melodramatic climax.

Ravi Shankar (Ravi Krishna) and Sandhya (Natassha), students of a college in Dindigul Tamil Nadu, are love birds.Sandhya but faces problem in her home as her mama has false eye on her.One day he peeps into her bathroom,she complains it to her stepmother but she encourages him and tells her that they will one day get married. For his act, he gets bumped off by Sandhya's stepmother. Upon reaching Chennai, a corrupt police officer (Sriman) apprehends Ravi Shankar on a complaint given by Sandhya's stepmother that he had murdered his father when he put his foot down on their affair. Ravi is put behind the bars.

The story starts with Karunakaran (Vijay) leaving his village to go to Mumbai looking for a job to help his sister's wedding. The film deals with student strength. Sivaraj (Vijay), a college student is leading a happy go lucky life, having a nice time with his friends, until two of his friends fall in love. Vishnu (Vijay)'s father wants to bring up his son as a timid person but the guy desires to explore the world and hates his Dad's overprotection. So Vishnu leaves home and goes to work in an estate claiming that he is an orphan. The owner of the estate adopts Vishnu as his son. Meanwhile Vishnu falls in love with Radha (Sanghavi). Everything goes fine for Vijay till his adopted father shows a photograph and asks Vijay to kill the people in the photo if he really wants to prove the affection he has for him. The man gives the reason that he wants them killed because they ruined his family.Vishnu agrees immediately but he's shocked to see his own father Jaishankar in the photograph. How Vijay gets to solve the mystery forms the climax of the movie.

The movie opens with murder of a Doctor who tries to set up his medical practice in a village. Everyone knows that the Zamindar of that village is behind that murder. He doesn't like the villagers to get exposed to better things, as he fears they might get out of his control. Enters Dr. Santhi (Radhika), who is determined to complete her father’s incomplete dream. She meets Chiru, who will be very helpful and co-coperative to her. But, zamindar has his own cruel intentions. He plans to kills Dr. Santhi also, but Chiru saves her. Every attempt on her life is foiled by Chiru and in the end Chiru manages to help Dr.santhi to run her practice smoothly by bringing zamindar to justice.
