Sri of Vazhakku Enn 18/9 fame, Mysskin, and Shaji play the lead roles in the film. The film score was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film had no heroine and no songs. Filming began on 11 March 2013 and the crew shot the entire film in and around Chennai city. Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum released on 27 September 2013 and got universal acclaim.

Satya (Narain) and Kiruba (Ajmal Ameer) are close friends living opposite each other in the neighbourhood. Satya is a rowdy, wasting his time drinking merrily and getting involved in fights. Though he and Kiruba passed college with a first class degree, Satya has no interest in joining the police force like his father. Kiruba studies hard to become a Sub-Inspector(SI), challenging Satya to do the same. Just a day before the exam, Satya decides to take up the exam as well, much to his friend's surprise and with little head start, passes the physical, written and interview, with the help of malpractices and influence from his uncle and becomes an SI. However, Kiruba doesn't make it through despite being straight forward; this creates a rift between the two.

J.K. (Cheran), a brooding CB-CID officer, is worried about his missing sister. His senior officer promises him that he can take up his sister's case after he solves another important one, so J.K. agrees. Amputated male arms are packed in cartons and left in public places, possibly as a message to the police. The missing people are identified as Raja Manikam, Moorthy etc., based on identification from their families. By triangulating the coordinates they find a lead in this case. Durai Pandi (Manicka Vinayagam) is a leading textile shop owner who was beaten, insulted in public and handed over to the police after it was found that he had used a peephole to look into the women’s dressing room. He is caught by the victim Suja's family, who are totally shattered by this incident. The inspector in-charge of this case is Isakki Muthu. Later, Durai Pandi's manager accepts the blame for the crime, clearing Durai Pandi's name. Later, Suja's father Dr. Purushothaman (Y. Gee. Mahendra) is arrested on charges of bribery, and then released. A sex affair complaint is lodged against Dr. Purushothaman’s wife (Lakshmy Ramakrishnan) by John Britto. These events shatter the family, and they commit suicide by setting themselves on fire. But Suja is still missing, so J.K. decides to reopen the case.

Siddharth (Naga) is an upcoming violinist in Chennai who stumbles upon an accident where a teenage girl (Prayaga) is lying in a pool of blood. Bruce Lee (Jiiva) is a martial arts specialist but unluckily he is unable to use those skills to make a living. Instead, he falls in love with Police Deputy Commissioner Gaurav's (Nassar) daughter Shakthi (Pooja Hegde), and tries to impress her and her elder sister's kids with his martial art skills. To make it more fun for them he pretends to be a superhero by wearing on a costume each time he visits. On his way back on one such visit, Lee finds himself caught in between cops and robbers chase in the city. He decides to assist the police and manages to nab one robber from the gang and hands him over to the police. Lee doesn't realize that by doing so he has asked upon himself the revenge of Dragon (Narain) who heads the same gang. As the police were involved too, Dragon eyes to take revenge on Police Commissioner Gaurav also. Dragon then connives a plan that eventually frames Lee as a robber and the attempted to kill the Police Commissioner. What lies ahead for Lee now is to prove his innocence to the Police, win his love back Shakthi and more importantly bring Dragon and his gang to justice.

Rajaram (Venkatesh) is the son of Raghuram (Naga Babu), an investigative journalist in a United Nations agency. He infiltrates the criminal organization of Nana Bhai (Aditya Pancholi) and earns his trust. He gathers proof against the activities of Nana and hands them over to newspaper publisher Chaitanya Prasad alias CP (Sayaji Shinde). He assumes the identity of Shadow and starts looking for members of Nana's gang. Meanwhile, Prathap (Srikanth), a tricky cop in UN agency, is also searching for Nana Bhai and his gang. As expected, the methods of Rajaram and Prathap cross resulting in friction. However, Rajaram soon learns that he has a terribly sturdy association with Prathap. At last he manages to reach Nana Bhai and destroys him.

Chassé de sa campagne natale par la misère, Velu travaille dans une gargote de rue de Chennai. La jeune fille rompt leur relation, cela ulcère Dinesh qui décide de se venger en l'aspergeant d'acide. Mais c'est Jyothi qui reçoit le liquide qui la défigure atrocement. Convaincu par un policier corrompu d'endosser la responsabilité de l'agression en échange de la promesse de soins pour la femme qu'il aime, Velu est lourdement condamné. Mais ayant découvert toutes ces magouilles, Jyothi décide de faire payer ceux qui ont fait son malheur et celui de Velu dont elle a pris conscience de la sincérité des sentiments.
