Kajal Aggarwal, née le 19 juin 1985 à Bombay, est une actrice indienne travaillant principalement dans le cinéma télougou.

Biographie

Kajal Aggarwal a débuté comme actrice en 2004 dans le film de Bollywood Kyun! Ho Gaya Na... dans lequel elle tenait un rôle secondaire mineur. En 2007, elle se lance dans le cinéma en langue télougou et incarne son premier rôle principal dans Lakshmi Kalyanam , un film de Teja . La même année, Chandamama devient son premier succès critique et commercial. Elle participe en 2009 à Magadheera , un film fantastique de S. S. Rajamouli où elle joue un double-rôle face à Ram Charan . Le film est une réussite commerciale importante faisant d'elle une des actrices les plus recherchées du cinéma télougou. Elle est nommée pour ce film à plusieurs prix d'interprétation, dont celui de la meilleure actrice lors de la cérémonie des 57e Filmfare Awards South.

Elle participe par la suite à plusieurs films télougou marquants tels que Darling (2010), Brindavanam (2010), Mr Perfect (2011), Businessman (2012), Naayak (2013), Baadshah (2013), Govindudu Andarivadele (2014) ou Temper) (2015). Au fil des années, elle est devenue une des actrices les mieux payées de Tollywood.

Kajal Aggarwal a également tenu les premiers rôles féminins dans des films en langue tamoule d'importance tels que Naan Mahaan Alla (2010), Maattrraan (2012), Thuppakki (2012) ou Jilla (2014).

Elle joue aussi dans de grosses productions en hindi comme Singham (2011) et Spécial 26 (2013) dans lesquelles elle incarne la femme du héros.

A driving instructor (Vikram), who calls himself by various names such as "James Bond", "Mani Ratnam", "Sunil Gavaskar" etc. (but never reveals his actual name), is assigned by a local goon Doss (Pasupathy) to deliver a "package" to one Pooran Singh (Abhimanyu Singh) in Mussoorie. The "package" is Shakeela (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), an orphaned woman who has failed her driving test 14 times. The driving instructor is constantly irritated by Shakeela's antics during the journey to Mussoorie, but soon falls in love with her after finding out that she is an orphan. At Mussoorie, he learns from Pooran Singh that Shakeela is to be "delivered" to one Daksha Bhai (Rahul Dev), an upper-caste landlord from an Uttarakhand-based village. He "delivers" Shakeela to Daksha Bhai and is invited to stay at his ancestral mansion for a couple of days. During the stay, he finds out why Shakeela has been "delivered" to Daksha Bhai.

The movie starts off with a Constable talking to the new subinspector Arjun about Maari, a local rowdy, who apparently rose to fame after killing a rival rowdy. Maari (Dhanush) happens to be an irritating guy, who along with his henchmen Sanikilamai (Robo Shankar) and Adithangi (Kalloori Vinoth), constantly pester the people in the locality and extort them. His main line of work is in training pigeons to perform in races and performance events. His boss is Velu, a bigger don who also is involved in the pigeon races as well as smuggling of sandalwood. Maari constantly has fights with "Bird" Ravi (Mime Gopi), another local rowdy who is also working under Velu. That is when Sridevi (Kajal Agarwal) enters, trying to open a boutique in Maari's locality. Maari forcefully becomes her partner in the business, which angers her after she loses some customers. So she helps Arjun in catching Maari by getting close to him, pretending to fall in love with him and incriminating him with an evidence of his confession of trying to kill the rival gang leader, but failing after which he was killed by someone else and the fame comes to Maari. Maari gets arrested and after he is released, he finds out that Velu also has been arrested, Arjun and Ravi are working together and has arrested some people in the area under the pretext of smuggling. Maari decides to take revenge on the duo. He first frees the local people from the extortion by Ravi's gang, when Sridevi also falls in love with him. Later he captures one of Arjun's smuggling vehicles and the driver and forces him to release Velu. When he takes revenge by burning the pigeon coop of Maari, he gets angry and beats up Ravi and Arjun, with the former agreeing to confess to everything. Angered, Arjun stabs Ravi but eventually gets arrested by the Revenue Department after his constable reveals all the secrets. Finally Sridevi approaches Maari to confess her love, which he rejects, returning to pester the local people and extort them for cash.
