Sandamarutham is an 2015 Tamil action thriller film directed by A. Venkatesh which has Sarath Kumar in dual lead roles who also written the story of the film. First time playing the roles of Protagonist and Antagonist himself in celluloid. The film also has Oviya, Meera Nandan and Samuthirakani in the cast. The film, produced by Radhika Sarathkumar, commenced shoot from May 2014. The film opened to positive reviews.

Synopsis

The movie begins with an investigation of a girl who has been dead along with a small vessel. That small vessel is actually a weapon as it contains explosive chemicals (a bomb named "Ophalaska") with its changing colours.

The film begins with the murder of a politician committed by the terrorist Azhagam Perumal (Anandaraj). The corrupt finance minister Ponnurangam (Goundamani) wants to become the central minister therefore he orders Azhagam Perumal for money to create the chaos in Tamil Nadu. The film begins at a fishing hamlet in Tamil Nadu where an elderly Rajashekar (Sarath Kumar) is worshipped as "God Father" by many. His amiable ways of living won him many friends. His son Vettrivel (younger Sarath Kumar) is an acclaimed scientist. He is received with gusto by the whole village after he returns winning awards from Central government. Unfortunately a glance at a vernacular on a new report on Malaysia shocks Rajashekar, who immediately develops cardiac arrest and dies. Vettrivel comes to know about the incident and decides to unravel the mystery behind his death. He sets off to Malaysia. Vettrivel gets acquainted with a local reporter Inba (Farzana), who falls for Vettrivel. With her help, he finds find out a disturbing truth about his father’s life. Rajashekar is former police officer in Malaysia who falls to the conspiracy of a baddie and arrested for no fault of his. Rajashekar eventually pays the price for being honest by losing his family and settles down in Tamil Nadu with his young son.

On September 16, superstar Gautham Krishna (Prakash Raj) gets ready for the release of his new film. On the same day, Traffic Constable Satyamoorthy (Cheran) joins back on duty, after having been suspended from service for taking bribes. The day is special for Dr. Robin (Prasanna) who is celebrating his first wedding anniversary. Karthik Vishwanathan (Sachin), an aspiring television journalist, starts his first job with an interview with Gautham Krishna the very same day. On the same day, at a crowded traffic junction in Chennai, Karthik, who was set to interview Gautham Krishna, and Ajmal (Mitun), traveling in a bike are hit by a speeding car at the signal, and Karthik is rushed to Global Hospital. Also at the junction, in another car, was the surgeon Dr. Robin. Karthik goes into coma and is declared brain dead although he is kept alive using ventilator. Meanwhile, Gautham's ailing daughter's (Gabriella Charlton)heart condition becomes worse and she urgently needs a heart transplant. At first Karthik's parents do not agree to take their son off the ventilator and donate their son's heart but Ajmal and Karthik's girlfriend (Parvathi Menon) persuade them into it. Now that the heart is available, the problem was transporting it from Chennai to Vellore. No chartered flights or helicopters were available and so the heart had to be taken by road. Someone had to drive the 150 kilometers in under two hours during the rush traffic.
