Saravanan Sivakumar (tamoul : சரவணன் சிவகுமார்), plus connu sous le nom de Surya, est un acteur indien né le 23 juillet 1975 à Madras (Inde). Fils de l'acteur Sivakumar, il joue dans des films tamouls et connaît rapidement le succès avec Nandha en 2001. Il joue dans d'autres films qui lui valent les éloges de la critique, comme Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Pithamagan (2003), Perazhagan (2005), Ghajini (2005) et Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). Il a reçu de nombreux prix dont trois Tamil Nadu Film Awards et trois Filmfare Awards (Sud).

Il est devenu distributeur avec la création de Studio Green qui a distribué plusieurs de ses films. Il épouse l'actrice Jyothika Sadanah en 2006, après de longues fiançailles. En 2008, il crée la fondation Agaram pour la prévention de la petite enfance abandonnée.

The film starts with the murder of ex-commissioner by an escaped prisoner Kamal Ekambaram (Riyaz Khan). The story then shifts to Masilamani aka Massu (Suriya) and his friend Jet Li (Premgi Amaren) who are small-time con artists. Massu falls for Manini (Nayantara) and they subsequently fall in love. While trying to escape after a heist gone wrong, Massu and Jet meet with a car accident, post which Massu starts seeing dead people, with whom he can communicate. Jet had died in the accident and is now a ghost, too. Massu forms a group of loitering ghosts to earn money by performing fake exorcisms and extorting money from scared rich people, while promising the ghosts that he would fulfill their last wishes in return. Meanwhile, Manini who thought Massu was working in a finance company gets to know about the fake exorcisms and leaves him in a heist.

A handicapped Krishna (Suriya) arrives at Mumbai. He, along with a taxi driver (Soori) travel along Mumbai to look for his brother. He then meets a close friend of Raju and tells Krishna that Raju is Raju Bhai (Suriya). He then meets JK and he tells his experience with Raju Bhai and tells him that Raju could have killed him but spared JK. Krishna finally meets Karim Bhai (Joe Malloori) and he tells Krishna that Raju and Chandru (Vidyut Jamwal) were inseparable friends and were growing dons as they emerging in the underworld their enemies too grows. Then a new Commissioner plans to clean the city and kills a few people of Raju's gang. Raju then retaliates this by kidnapping the Commissioner's daughter Jeeva (Samantha) and keeps her as a hostage for a day and when Raju goes to leave her back she tells that she actually doesn't want to go and doesn't want to marry because she didn't love anyone. Both of them then develop love. Things go well until Raju and Chandru invoke the wrath of Imran Bhai (Manoj Bajpai) who is a bigger and more powerful don than them and Chandru keeps chanting what Imran says to him that Imran would 'shoot them like pigs'. Raju then gives Chandru a surprise by capturing Imran. Chandru becomes thrilled about it and gives Raju a surprise by getting him a new car. Raju then meets Jeeva inside. Chandru tells him that he had given Raju a surprise and tells him to stay away for seven days with Jeeva. Raju and Jeeva have a blast. When Raju comes back he sees Chandru murdered in a ghastly manner. A frustrated Raju goes in search of the killers is also shot by his own man, Amar. Krishna then becomes worried. At that very time Amar gets to know that Krishna was looking for him and tries to kill Krishna. Then it is revealed that Krishna is Raju. Raju then fights them and kills Amar. He then goes to find Jackie in a horse race. Jackie tells him to ask Johny. Raju then finds Johny in a shopping mall and Johny tells him that they along with Imran had plotted to kill Chandru when Raju was away. A disappointed Raju kills Johny. Raju then kills one more betrayer in a fight and shoots him. Then Imran's men kidnap Karim Bhai's daughter. When Raju gets there Karim tells him it wasn't his daughter, it was Jeeva. Raju finally battles them and at last kills Imran Bhai. Raju, after rescuing Jeeva, reunites with her and happily leave Mumbai.

On September 16, superstar Gautham Krishna (Prakash Raj) gets ready for the release of his new film. On the same day, Traffic Constable Satyamoorthy (Cheran) joins back on duty, after having been suspended from service for taking bribes. The day is special for Dr. Robin (Prasanna) who is celebrating his first wedding anniversary. Karthik Vishwanathan (Sachin), an aspiring television journalist, starts his first job with an interview with Gautham Krishna the very same day. On the same day, at a crowded traffic junction in Chennai, Karthik, who was set to interview Gautham Krishna, and Ajmal (Mitun), traveling in a bike are hit by a speeding car at the signal, and Karthik is rushed to Global Hospital. Also at the junction, in another car, was the surgeon Dr. Robin. Karthik goes into coma and is declared brain dead although he is kept alive using ventilator. Meanwhile, Gautham's ailing daughter's (Gabriella Charlton)heart condition becomes worse and she urgently needs a heart transplant. At first Karthik's parents do not agree to take their son off the ventilator and donate their son's heart but Ajmal and Karthik's girlfriend (Parvathi Menon) persuade them into it. Now that the heart is available, the problem was transporting it from Chennai to Vellore. No chartered flights or helicopters were available and so the heart had to be taken by road. Someone had to drive the 150 kilometers in under two hours during the rush traffic.

Rajaram (Venkatesh) is the son of Raghuram (Naga Babu), an investigative journalist in a United Nations agency. As expected, the methods of Rajaram and Prathap cross resulting in friction. However, Rajaram soon learns that he has a terribly sturdy association with Prathap. Walter Vanangamudi (Vishal Krishna) and Kumbudren Saamy (Arya) are half-brothers, who constantly fight and try to outdo each other. Both brothers are pickpockets and get encouragement from their respective mothers. Walter's mother Maryamma (Ambika) encourages her son to steal and continue their "family tradition". However, Walter, an aspiring actor with an effeminate touch, is rather interested in arts than committing crimes. The Zamindar (G. M. Kumar), referred to as 'Highness' by the community, takes an affinity towards Saamy and Walter and treats them as his own family. He constantly encourages Walter to take up acting seriously and to be friendly towards his brother. Walter is smitten by a Police Constable Baby (Janani Iyer) from whom he attempts to steal after being dared by his brother to prove himself. She finds him completely amusing and eventually falls for him. He returns several stolen goods from his home and from Kumbudren Samy to rescue her from being dismissed and goes to great lengths to impress her. Kumbudren Samy falls for a college student Thenmozhi (Madhu Shalini) who is intimidated by his rough ways at first but reciprocates his love later on.

Ashwin Kumar (Jiiva) is a photojournalist working for the private newspaper Dina Anjal. He witnesses Naxalites robbing a local bank. He chases them and manages to click photos of the robbers. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by a young woman Renuka 'renu' (Karthika Nair) who assumes he is the culprit and helps the robbers to take his camera. However, he is able to secure the memory card of the camera. The police catch him, and to prove that he is a press photographer, he shows the photos to the them, who identify everyone except the gang leader (whose face is covered by a mask). At his office, he again meets Renuka, who has newly joined as Article Editor. Saraswathi 'saro' (Piaa Bajpai) also works in his office and has feelings for Ashwin, who does not reciprocate.
