Synopsis
Vishnu (Kunchacko Boban), Pappan (Prathap Pothen) and Louis (Biju Menon) are three ex-convicts who live together at Pappan's abode, trying to pick up from where they had let their lives off before being jailed. After many unsuccessful efforts to find employment, they appeal to Dr. Isaac (Narain), who was a counsellor in the prison. He suggests that they consider some form of self-employment and he will support them. Vishnu converts Pappan's Omni into an ambulance. Pappan runs a playschool and Louis works for a driving school run by a neighbour, Grace (Anjana Menon), a widow. But Dr. Isaac has some other intentions in supporting them and this forms the crux of the story.Acteurs

Dr. Ravi Tharakan (Prithviraj) is a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon working in a private hospital. Ayalum Njanum Thammil begins with a traumatised girl being brought to the hospital. Ravi decides to operate the girl for free, but much against the wish of her father. The girl dies during the surgery. Her father and a few local politicians accuses Dr. Tharakan for the death and protests in the hospital. Ravi is forced to flee through the backdoor, followed by the girl's relatives. He has an accident on the way and goes missing without any traces. The girl's death gains media attention and the police starts a thorough search for Dr. Ravi. The hospital management clears their hand by sacking Dr. Ravi but the chairman's private secretary Diya (Rima Kallingal) expresses dissatisfaction over the hospital's decision and starts a search on her own. She is very much attached to Ravi who had once convinced her the importance of following the ethics in medical profession. She meets Dr. Vivek (Narain) who is a very close friend and a former classmate of Ravi.

The story revolves around Ajayan (Mohanlal), who, after having tried his luck in different cities around the world, comes back to his village to look after his ageing mother Ammukutty Amma (Sheela) and to get her love and the nostalgia of his growing up years. There, he starts a company for producing agricultural equipment and earns his living as a farmer. One day a boy comes and meets Ajayan claiming to be his son. Ajayan used to boast himself as a womanizer in his youth is believed to be the boy's father by all villagers. Ammukutty Amma starts getting to like the boy and they form a very friendly relation and eventually she starts accepting the boy as Ajayan's real son, though Ajayan ferociously reject the boy's claim and dislikes him. The boy is persuaded by Ammukkty Amma to get close with Ajayan and subsequent events softens Ajayans attitude towards the boy. Ajayan then set forth to enquire about the real identity of the boy and travels to Chennai. He is absolutely sure that he is not his father as the real truth is his stories about adventures with woman were actually lies to get admiration of his friends. The climax show us that Ajayan accepts the boy as his own son.

Jayaraman (Jayasurya) is popularly known as Kunjaliyan (Young Brother-in-law) in Gopalapuram, a village in the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border. He is the younger brother of three sisters.
