Au bout du monde à gauche (en hébreu סוף העולם שמאלה, Sof Ha'Olam Smola, littéralement « Tourner à gauche à la fin du monde ») est un film franco-israélien écrit, produit et réalisé par Avi Nesher en 2004. Le film met en vedette Netta Garti, Liraz Cherki et Ruby Porat Shoval. Les scènes extérieures ont été filmées dans Midreshet Ben Gourion. L'acteur indien Parmeet Sethi a joué le rôle de Roger Talker dans le film.

Synopsis

Le film se déroule dans une petite ville en développement dans le désert du Néguev durant la fin des années 1960 et se concentre sur la coexistence de deux communautés juives, l’une originaire du Maroc et l’autre constitué de Juifs indiens.

The film takes place in 1968. An army entertainment troupe (based on the Nahal troupe), perform comedy and singing acts to the Israeli soldiers in combat zones to boost morale. At the beginning of the film, three departing members of the troupe perform an old Broadway-style song. The next day, auditions, led by the director Paul Aviv (Tuvia Tzafir) are held for the three new members. Watching the tape, Lukas becomes captivated, not less so when he spots the old man's obituary in the newspaper, and decides to attend the funeral. He is confronted by Mira (Rachel Miner), a young medical student, for attending a funeral without knowing the deceased. They argue. Lukas shows her the witness tape.
