BabaKiueria (also known under the video-title BabaKiueria (Barbeque Area)) is a 1986 Australian satirical film on relations between Aboriginal Australians and Australians of European descent.

Synopsis

BabaKiueria revolves around a role-reversal, whereby it is Aboriginal Australians who have invaded and colonised the fictitious country of BabaKiueria, a land that has long been inhabited by white natives, the BabaKiuerians.

Tribly, jeune metisse, vit dans un quartier de bidonvilles dans la banlieue d'une grande cite australienne. Par ambition elle reussit a convaincre Mollie, sa mere, et Jack son pere, d'aller vivre dans le quartier blanc. Tous font un effort et ils emmenagent dans une maison neuve loin de la zone. Mais Mollie ne supporte pas l'indifference du quartier et regrette la convivialite de la "zone". Quant a Tribly elle est ecartelee entre deux mondes. L'auteur de "Breaker Morant" realise avec ce film un projet qui lui tenait a coeur depuis six ans.
