Chellakannu is a 1995 Tamil romantic drama film directed by N. Rathnam. The film features Vignesh and Yuvarani in lead roles. The film had musical score by Deva and was released on 12 May 1995. It completed hundred days of theatrical run.

Synopsis

Chellakannu (Vignesh) and Chandra (Yuvarani) are cousins, they loved each other since their childhood. Chandra leaves the village for studying and Chellakannu cannot forget her. When she is back, their family tries to marry them.

Vallarasu (Vijayakanth) is the deputy commissioner of police and a very honest Police Officer who has arrested Wasim Khan a terrorist from Pakistan. He is married and has wife Anjali (Devayani) and 2 children. Vallarasu kills his senior Police officer (Raguvaran) who is his father in law on knowing he is hand-in-glove with terrorists and Anti-National elements. Vallarasu takes the help of some youths who are disillusioned by their inability to join the police force to fight the terrorist and other criminal elements. Vallarasu fights R.Kandasamy (P. Vasu) a rich man who is behind the attempts to destabilise the country. With the help of Sheshadri, a software engineer, Vallarasu succeeds in killing the son of R. Kandasamy. Kandasamy in retaliation attacks Sriman and Karan who both die. In the climax, Anjali unites with Vallarasu after knowing the truth and he kills Kandasamy and Wasim Khan.
