Deux nigauds vendeurs (titre original : Little Giant) est une comédie américaine, en noir et blanc, réalisée par William A. Seiter et sortie en 1946. Ce film met en scène le duo comique Abbott et Costello et fait partie de la série Deux Nigauds.

Synopsis

Benny Miller, un péquenaud naïf, quitte sa campagne pour tenter sa chance à Los Angeles dans la vente. Il voit d'ailleurs une annonce pour devenir vendeur à domicile d'aspirateur. Mais lorsqu'il se présente à l'entretien d'embauche, une méprise le met dans une position qui pourrait être très préjudiciable à la société d'aspirateurs si Benny venait à porter plainte. Dès lors, pour s'assurer qu'il n'attente rien contre la société, il ne reste qu'une solution, l'embaucher comme vendeur et lui faire croire qu'il est un crack, même si c'est tout l'inverse…

Dans cette comédie musicale, une jeune chanteuse devient si désespérée d'apparaître à Broadway qu'elle se rend chez un éminent producteur et lui dit qu'elle est la fille issue de son mariage d'une journée avec une jeune femme qu'il a connue il y a des années. Le producteur est ravi et met bientôt sa fille en scène. Les ennuis commencent lorsque la "mère" de la fille passe soudainement un appel. Heureusement, à la fin de l'histoire, la vérité est révélée, toutes les différences sont réconciliées et le bonheur s'ensuit.

Marylin Miller plays the part of an American circus performer, doing her act in a British circus, who is engaged to a man she does not love. A former boyfriend, played by Lawrence Gray, stops by to see her before taking boat back to the United States. Miller realizing that she loves Gray, decides to run away. She embarks on the same boat that Lawrence takes. Her father, who realizes what his daughter has done, reaches the boat just as it is about to leave and manages to board it. While on board, Gray becomes engaged to be married to a wealthy socialite (Barbara Bedford). Miller learns that she will not be allowed to disembark in the United States without a passport. In order to land, Miller marries an American friend, intending to divorce him as soon as she is safely inside the United States. After arrive in the states, Miller tells Gray about her love for him. Bedford overhears them and tells Gray that she will announce their engagement at a party that very night. Disappointed, Miller decides to return to England, but Gray proposes to her just as she is about to leave.

Tommy Tanner (Wheeler) and Egbert G. Higginbotham (Woolsey) are two vaudevillians who were kicked out of the last town they performed in. After fleeing to the town of Lockville, the duo befriend elderly widow Mother Talley (Lucy Beaumont). Mother is upset because she is unable to get customers into her drug store. Tommy and Egbert decide to turn Mother's drugstore into a money-making venture, even producing their own afternoon radio program right in the store. Harry, who wants to buy the store as part of a bootlegging operation, attempts to sell the duo an alcohol-laced drink, referring to it as "lemon-syrup". The "syrup" gains praise from everybody in town, until the police show up to close down the operation. Tommy and Egbert are suspicious of Harry, and it's up to them to find Harry, clear their name, and save Mother's store.
