Escape from Uganda is a 2013 Malayalam thriller film directed by Rajesh Nair. The cast includes Rima Kallingal, Vijay Babu, R. Parthiepan, Jojo, Tashu Kaushik, Winston Witecker and also Mukesh in a cameo appearance. The story is by Rajesh nair, Screenplay by Sandeep Robinson, Deepak Prabhakaran and Nithin Bhadran and dialogue by salin mankuzy. Several plots as well as the general thread of the movie have an uncanny similarity to the Hollywood thriller The Next Three Days. Escape From Uganda started rolling in Uganda from July 7. It has been shot completely in the Uganda and will be the first Malayalam film to be shot extensively in Africa.
Synopsis
Shikha Samuel (Rima Kallingal), along with her husband Jayakrishnan (Vijay Babu), has chosen of all places in the world, Uganda, to find refuge in, after her family in Kerala objects to their marriage. The couple is leading a happy life with a girl child of their own. Jayakrishnan is employed as a manager in a coffee shop and Shikha runs a designer boutique of her own. She soon sets up a boutique of her own in the African country. The tranquillity of their life is shattered when Shikha is arrested on the charges of committing two murders, one of the victim is the daughter of the local Mayor, who has pledged to keep her in jail for the rest of her life.Acteurs

The film begins with a flashback where two brothers Ravindra Varma(V. K. Sreeraman) and Mahendra Varma(Kalasala Babu) fighting for the royal family treasure along with their sons. During the fight a prism from the idol of the goddess breaks. The brothers get frightened and immediately stop the fight. After conducting certain rituals they find that the goddess is angry because of the bloodshed that happened and it is decided that the treasure will be locked for 41 years.

The film begins with a scene happening in a corn field in south India, where A British Forest Ranger who is in charge of the fields is being alerted by some strange noises coming form deep inside the fields. He sets out with his dog and searches for the source of this strange noise, then suddenly the dog is being dragged inside and brutally killed by an unknown beast creature. Then the ranger is also dragged inside and killed by the creature. Then the plot shifts to the 1970s where a college (sir arthur wellington college) farewell party is taking place. Two friends Amudhan and Vendhan (the son of the college watchman), decide to stay back in the college hostel and spend the vacation there. This is mainly because Amudhan's Girlfriend Poongavanm lives in the nearby village of poomanandhipuram, so that he can't miss her during this vacation. The only thing that lies between the college and the village is the same corn field (now protected by a big wall), that is believed to be the hunting ground of the strange creature, that the people now call Ambuli. Though some people called it a myth, many believed that ambuli did exist. One night, despite warnings from Vendhan, Amudhan decides to go through the corn field to reach poomanandhipuram to meet Poongavanam. He makes the first trip successfully, but while he returns, he hears the same strange noise and is been chased and thrown off his cycle by Ambuli (which is not yet shown on screen). Amudhan runs for life and reaches the college, where he meets Vendhan and narrates him what happened and says to him that Ambuli is real. Vendhan is little convinced by Amudhan's narration and they both decide to visit the corn field together that night to see what really is happening. They both travel the entire field and reach one corner and find a wood house (the place where the British ranger once lived), and they meet Sengodan there. Sengodan guards the fields but his looks cause a little bit of suspicion to the boys that he might be the ambuli. But Sengoden does not harm them and the boys fled the place.

Police constables Balagopal (Sreejith Ravi) and Jolly Kurien (Joju George) have been at odds for years but are under orders to transfer two prisoners from Kannur to Trivandrum. They board the Parasuram express with the handcuffed inmates. While at the Kayamkulam station, prisoner Nandu (Vineeth Sreenivasan) escapes. The two officers get off the train at the next stop with second inmate Maran (Chemban Vinod Jose) and frantically searches for Nandu. The three unlikely musketeers finds the back-story of Nandu. Nandu's father, Narayanan (Nedumudi Venu) always have a wrongful intention to his step-sister, Lakshmi (Nikki Galrani). Nandu, one day determines to kill his father for the same, but the trap he set accidentally killed his mother. He was arrested for his mother's murder. One day his Narayanan comes to visit him at jail and reveals his true intentions for his step-sister. Nandu determines to escape at any possible opportunities. The three musketeers finds Nandu while roughing with Narayanan, both with the intention to kill. Accidentally Jolly Kurien kills Nandu's father. With knowing Narayanan's story, Maran devises a plan to not let the issue known to others, to which everyone agrees. Narayanan's body is buried in a nearby church cemetery at that night itself. In the end of the day everyone is shown as happy in their karmic lives.

In 1279 A.D., the downfall of the Chola dynasty seems imminent as the Pandyas drive the Chola people out of their kingdom in southern India. To escape them and save the life of his successor the Chola emperor sends his son along with the Chola people to a secret territory. The refugees take along an idol sacred to the Pandyas, angering them.
