Hot Water is a 1937 American comedy film directed by Frank R. Strayer and starring Jed Prouty, Shirley Deane and Spring Byington. It is part of the Jones Family series of films. The Jones father decides to run for mayor, leading the current incumbent to try and disgrace his son.

The film's sets were designed by the art director Chester Gore.

The town of Headstone eagerly awaits the arrival of their new sheriff, hoping that he will vanquish the dreaded outlaw, Killer Pete, who has murdered the last four sheriffs. Meanwhile, on the stage bound for Headstone, Tex Miller, the new sheriff, is making small talk with fellow passenger and former seminary student Belinda "Bill" Pendergast when the stage is attacked by a band of Indians. Le grand-père de Peter Foley lui a légué plusieurs centaines de milliers de dollars, à condition qu'il se marie avant minuit, sinon c'est à son oncle qu'ira l'héritage. Peter, qui a de lourdes dettes, projette d'épouser Alice Blake dès que son avion en provenance de Kansas City atterrira et de l'emmener chez Oncle Henry avant minuit. Mais son avion est retardé. Parker, à qui Peter doit de l'argent, insiste pour que sa propre petite amie, Julia, se fasse passer pour la femme de Peter. Tout ne va pas se passer comme prévu, suite à l'intervention de Joe Blair, secrètement amoureux d'Alice, et de "Bull", un policier de la route amoureux de Julia. Malgré ces complications, et d'autres, Peter et Alice seront mariés avant l'heure fatidique.
