Kalikaalam (Malayalam: കലികാലം) is a 2012 Malayalam drama film written and directed by Reji Nair. Focussing mainly on relationships, it tells the story of a mother and her three children. The film tries to explore the complexities of a small family. Scriptwriter Reji Nair makes his directorial debut with this film. Kalikalam was filmed by award winning cinematographer Madhu Ambat. The film's music is by O. N. V. Kurup-Ousepachan team, who reunites once again after Akashadoothu (1992). The film was shot in Thalassery and nearby places.

Paappi Appacha is the story of a father and son, Mathai (Innocent) and Paappi (Dileep). They live like friends and they get into all sorts of mischiefs in their village, Ithirikkandam. The film starts with NSG Officer Shyam(Suresh Gopi) arresting a terrorist nicknamed Jagmohan Pandey. Usha Varma(Sharada), the judge of the case happens to be the sister of the Indian Home Secretary Rajan Varma(Lalu Alex). In retaliation to the arrest, the terrorists kill Unni, Usha's son. Following this incident the government enlists Z Category protection for Justice Usha Varma and her family.Rajan Varma and Balram(Ratheesh) decide to give the assignment to the Black Cat Commando Team under Shyam's command. Shyam kills Manasi's (Priya Raman) boyfriend Nathuram when he was trying to trespass her home and so they starts hating Shyam. Manasi does not know that her boyfriend was part of the terrorist group planning to kill Usha. Nathuram had been lying that he is based from France, while in reality, he was working with the terrorist group. The terrorists led by Abbas Qureshi later kidnap Manasi and she understands the truth. After Manasi's kidnap and learning about her son's assassination, Usha Varma requests Shyam's help to keep her alive until she reads the verdict in Pandey's case at the Supreme Court. Later during the exchange for Manasi's release Shyam infiltrates the terrorist hideout as Pandey along with plenty of other officers. While Pandey manages to kill Balram, Shyam finishes off both Pandey and Abbas Qureshi. The Varma family thanks him for his help, and Manasi apologizes for her hatred towards him.

The movie shows how a young woman Padmini(Madhavi) who is separated from her husband gets attached to a young orphan girl Gigi(Sonia) when they meet in a hospital during their stay after a bus accident. Gigi has lost her mother in the accident and Padmini decides to take Gigi with her. Gigi is not completely mentally stable and is a special needs child. Padmini brings Gigi to Dr. Padmanabhan (Mammootty) who after initial apprehension accepts Gigi in his institute as a student by the day. Gigi gradually improves and Padmini is peaceful. Padmini's separated husband Sethu (Lalu Alex) is still trying to win her back. The viewers are shown that Padmini separated from her husband because she lost her children due to an episode of reckless motorcycle riding from husband. Padmini decides to go back to Sethu and adopt Gigi as their daughter. However Gigi's special behavior annoys Sethu and Gigi starts to feel insecure about losing her mother again. The movie goes on to show Padmini's emotional turbulence.
