Mohandas was released on 4 September 2009. The film received positive reviews and was nominated for the Grand Prix at the Fribourg International Film Festival.
Synopsis
Born in a poor family, young Mohandas lands an important job at the 'Oriental Coal Mines'. However, his success story is brutally disrupted when somebody steals his identity and takes his place in his name. A local journalist tapes the story which reaches Meghna, an Indian television star newsreader in Delhi. A Kafkaesque tale of identity theft that becomes a searing indictment of bureaucratic corruption and conspiracy.Acteurs

Mumbai is in the midst of a turf war between two gangs, collectively referred to as the Mumbai underworld when Satya (J.D Chakravarthy), a man without a past, comes to the city looking for employment. While waiting tables at the local dance bar, he gets involved in a scuffle with Jagga (Jeeva), bag man for dreaded don Guru Narayan (Raju Mavani). Jagga takes his revenge by getting Satya arrested on false charges of pimping. In jail, Satya clashes with yet another member of Mumbai's mafia, underworld don Bhiku Mhatre (Manoj Bajpai), who is in prison pending trial for the murder of a prominent film producer. Mhatre, pleased with Satya's bravado, extends a hand of friendship and arranges for his release as well as accommodation. With Mhatre's help, Satya avenges himself by gunning down Jagga in the very same dance bar and joins Mhatre's gang.

Pour une famille pauvre de l'Inde, avoir une fille exige de grands sacrifices pour lui constituer une dot et pouvoir la marier. Dans un village où depuis des années les filles ont été éliminées à la naissance, Ramcharan : , père de cinq garçons, cherche à marier son fils aîné. Secrètement gardée à l'écart du village par son père, Kalki est la seule femme de la région. Ramcharan découvre son existence. Il fait une offre au père de Kalki, qui après avoir hésité, finit par vendre sa fille contre une forte somme d'argent. Kalki se retrouve mariée non pas au fils aîné de Ramcharan comme cela avait été prévu, mais aux cinq frères. Ramcharan, veuf depuis plusieurs années, exige de partager le lit de la jeune femme. Kalki trouve un peu de réconfort auprès du plus jeune des cinq frères, le seul à la traiter avec respect. Il meurt, tué par un de ses frères. Kalki fait parvenir à son père une lettre dans laquelle elle expose la situation. Celui-ci, transformé par l'argent qu'il a reçu précédemment, réclame à Ramcharan un supplément pour les nuits qu'il a passées avec sa fille. Désespérée, Kalki tente de s'échapper. Elle est rattrapée et pour couper court à toute nouvelle tentative, elle est enchaînée dans l'étable.

Subhash Nagare (Amitabh Bachchan) est le chef d’un petit village du Maharashtra. Il est le Sarkar : il est extrêmement respecté et craint par la population locale. Son fils, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan), héritier de la famille Nagare, se montre plus modéré que son père et aspire à utiliser la fortune familiale pour améliorer le sort du peuple. Quant à Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), c'est une femme d’affaires sans scrupules dont le seul but est de gagner de l’argent pour son entreprise. À la tête de Sheppard Power, multinationale spécialisée dans la production d'énergie, elle soutient le projet de la construction d'une centrale électrique en pleine zone rurale. Shankar prend rapidement conscience des avantages que la centrale pourrait apporter à la population. Seul inconvénient : le projet nécessite un déplacement d’une part importante de la population. Après avoir convaincu Sarkar qui était contre le projet, Shankar entreprend un voyage avec Anita jusque dans les villages du Maharashtra pour convaincre les habitants. Cependant, l’entreprise de Shankar se heurte à de multiples obstacles et devient progressivement un champ de mines politique. Le régime de Sarkar est affaibli et le nom de Shankar est effacé de l'horizon politique.

The film begins with an aged man entering a graveyard to lay flowers on someone's grave. He hears the noise of someone struggling in a coffin nearby. He digs into that place and opens the coffin. To his utmost surprise, he discovers a girl buried alive in the coffin. He takes the girl and admits her to the hospital. Inspector Anton Veldez (Siddharth Kher),the officer-in-charge of the case, tells the doctor to let him know as soon as she regains consciousness and asks one of his officers to stay alert in case the girl is attacked again. Interestingly, that very officer turns out to be a dishonest one and calls an anonymous person informing him of the girl being alive. He, then, secretly enters her cabin for a second attempt to kill her and this time too, by suffocation. He presses a pillow on her face and she manages to press the alarm button. This causes the nurse to rush to her cabin. The officer goes out of the cabin pretending to be unaware of the attack. Now, that the girl has become conscious, the doctor calls Inspector Anton. When Anton, along with the doctor, goes into her cabin, they find her missing. Anton, frustrated, sends his officers to look for her and himself goes to the ground floor to meet the dean. While he is waiting for the lift, he remembers the monitor in her cabin still working meaning that the girl was right there when they entered. He goes back to the cabin but the girl had already escaped. She crawls her way to the store room. The girl is revealed to be Sonika (Surveen Chawla) and is a mistress of a powerful and influential political leader Mandar Mhatre (Sushant Singh). Sonika is a photography student. Sonika is kept isolated and tortured by Mandar. She reluctantly finds comfort in her college friend Akshay Bedi (Jay Bhanushali) who secretly loves her. They both fall in love but Sonika is helpless since she can't tell Akshay about her being the mistress of Mandar. Akshay gets to know the truth and comforts her. They both move to a different home and decide to spend their lives together. They declare their love and have sex. Sonika is happy and finds some hope that she will be free from the torture that she had to tolerate. Mandar tries to find Sonika but she is no where to be found in her house. Later on he gets to know that she has eloped with her lover. Mandar and his men reach Akshay's house and attack him. Sonika cries and pleades Mandar to leave Akshay but he refuses to. Mandar's men kill Akshay by tying him to a rope and throwing him in a lake in a car. Mandar also buries Sonika alive in a coffin. After she is rescued she vows to extract vengeance upon Mandar for murdering Akshay and for herself.She at first kills the police officer who tried to kill her.Then she writes a diary describing her torture. She dives inside the same lake and puts it in the car. She then kills one of the three men who were involved along with Mandar in killing Akshay. After that, she informs Anton about Akshay's dead body. However even though Anton gets hold of Akshay and the diary Mandar makes it look that Sonika killed Akshay. Sonika then again manages to put everything in right order and kills the another man of Mandar involved with Mandar in killing Akshay. Then Sonika teams up with Mandar's arch rival and get hold of the third man of Mandar involved in killing Akshay. However all of a sudden Mandar himself kills that person. It is revealed that the archrival had becomes partner after Mandar offered to share his seats with him in election. Mandar makes it look that Sonika did it and thus police officer catch her. However she manages to escape with Anton's help. Then Sonika kills Mandar with Mandar's wife's help (who came to know about Mandar's wrongdoing accidentally).
