Murder by Television (1935) is an American mystery film starring Bela Lugosi, June Collyer, and Huntley Gordon. The film is also known as The Houghland Murder Case. The cast also includes Hattie McDaniel.

Synopsis

James Houghland, inventeur d'une nouvelle méthode par laquelle les signaux de télévision peuvent être instantanément envoyés n'importe où dans le monde, refuse de vendre le processus aux sociétés de télévision, qui envoient ensuite des agents pour acquérir l'invention de toutes les manières possibles. La nuit de son émission initiale, Houghland est mystérieusement assassiné au milieu de sa manifestation et il incombe au chef de la police Nelson de déterminer qui est le meurtrier parmi les nombreux suspects présents.

Just before she dies, an elderly married woman stashes the horde of money she's secretly accumulated beneath the false bottom of an old shipping trunk.
