The film attracted media attention as it was the first Asian film in which an animated character played the lead role alongside live actors.
Synopsis
O' Faby tells the story of the friendship between the hero and the animated character, Faby. The producer's son Rockey played the hero role. The movie is about the various troubles the hero falls in and how Faby helps him out of these situations.Acteurs

Bala is the favourite hit man of gangster Pasupathi (Dev). When Bala is not zooming around in jeeps with a wild-looking gang, parading down lanes with the same gang faithfully following a step behind him, or knocking down one person or another, he's successfully wooing Arthi, the girl he has fallen for at first sight. Arthi is the daughter of Jeyamani, a rival gangster. Ailing don Paranthaman (Thilakan), mentor of the two rivals, seeing his protégés at each other's throats, brings a compromise by suggesting that Arthi be married to Pasupathi's wayward son. Bala naturally becomes a pariah in both camps, till it's all's well that ends well.

In this Indian story, based on a Kerala legend, a pious and self-disciplined master carpenter of a supposedly mixed-caste background, moves easily in his world, building temples and then carving the stone statues which embellish them. He is at home in his traditional world, is at peace with his inner self and the social mores of the time. By way of contrast, he begets a son who is of rebellious nature and questioning of the traditional social hierarchies of the time. He falls in love with the daughter of a royal household which ultimately leads to his demise.
