Surendranatha Thilakan (15 July 1935 – 24 September 2012), known mononymously as Thilakan, was an Indian film and stage actor who had starred in over 200 Malayalam films .
Thilakan is regarded as one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, and popularly mentioned as the Perumthachan (master craftsman) of Malayalam Cinema. He has won 3 National Film Awards and 9 Kerala State Film Awards. The Government of India awarded him with the Padma Shri in 2009 for his contributions towards the arts.
Thilakan died on 24 September 2012, following a cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Biographie
Thilakan was the second of the six children of Palapurath P.S. Keshavan (1904-1972) and Devayani (1912-2010). Thilakan was born in Plankamon, Ayroor Panchayat in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. He had his primary education from Asan Pallikoodam, Manikkal and St. Louis Catholic School, Nalamvayal and Sree Narayana College, Kollam Thilakan lived in Plankamon until he started acting in movies with which he moved to Ernakulam. Thilakan was married to actress Santha with whom he appeared in several productions. Thilakan and Santha had three children Shaji Thilakan, Shammi Thilakan and Shoby Thilakan. The film is about an elderly gentleman Major Madhava Menon aka Major maman (Thilakan who has seen better days but has been left alone, and his emotional relationship with a male nurse, Rahithan (Sasi Eranjikkal). An emotional bond develops between the two. Rahithan considers the Major like his father. In between he got thoughts of killing the Major to free both the souls of the burden they are carrying. But he couldn't commit it and he even rejects a government job in order to serve the Major. In the end, the Major sends Rahithan away at gun point, so that Rahithan should not miss his future.
