Biographie
Gautami was married to businessman Sandeep Bhatia in 1998 with whom she has a daughter Subbalakshmi born in 1999. She divorced Sandeep Bhatia in 1999. Since 2005, she and actor Kamal Haasan have been in a live-in relationship. The couple met on the sets of Apoorva Sagodharargal in 1989 and have since remained close friends. She and Kamal have refused to marry each other, citing 'lack of faith in marriage' as the main reason. Sakthi (Karthik) is a spoiled rich child, with his mother (Sachu) and grandfather (Kaka Radhakrishnan) constantly doting on him with cash and gifts. His father (Vinu Chakravarthy) is worried that he has such a good-for-nothing son. Sakthi falls head over heels in love with Indhu (Rambha). Sakthivel’s uncle, Kundalakesi (Goundamani), aids Sakthi in declaring his love to Indhu. In the meantime, Sakthi's father meets his long-lost friend (Jaiganesh) and they agree on a marriage proposal for their children. Sakthi, (who wrongly believes that he is being forced into an arranged marriage) does not realize that Indhu is indeed Jayaganesh’s daughter and gets his cousin Mathi (Vivek) and Kundalakesi to misbehave and create a fight during the engagement. Eventually the truth is revealed Indhu is furious. Sakthi sees a girl called Latha (Indhu) committing suicide. Inspector (Madhan Bob) wrongly thinks they are a married couple and tries to marry them to each other but Sakthi escapes. Sakthi mistakenly hurts another girl (Vinodhini) whose father (S. S. Chandran) also thinks him her husband. Sakthi's cousin, Mathi, is a henpecked husband to a rich and arrogant wife (Anju) and lies to her that Vichithra is Sakthi's husband. At last, Sakthi is going to marry Indhu, but people who areknown to the three girls come and misbehave. The three girls explain the situation and make them understand what happened. Sakthi and Indhu get married.

Prabhakaran (Prabhu), a poet, lives with his mother and his father. Prabhakaran has two friends Raja (Raja) and Murugan (Vadivelu) who are like his own brothers. A classical dancer (Gouthami) admires his poems. His ambition is passing the IAS exams and becoming a collector at all costs before the marriage. Prabhakaran's father (Mouli) and Ramanathan (Raghuvaran), Meena's father, are close friends and they decide to get Prabhakaran and Meena (Suvalakshmi) married. Meena is a very sensitive girl. Prabhakaran cannot accept for the marriage and tries to cancel it. Whereas Meena falls in love with her future groom Prabhakaran. Prabhakaran refuses for the marriage as a consequence Meena commits suicide because of a misinterpretation. Meena's family blames the innocent Prabhakaran. He feels guilty and decide to marry her Meena's younger sister Manju (Keerthi Reddy), a playful girl. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Au début du cinéma parlant, dans l'état du Pays Tamoul... Anandan (Mohanlal), acteur débutant et Tamizhselvam (Prakash Raj), auteur prolifique, deviennent les meilleurs amis du monde. Si, le premier vise le succès au cinéma, au prix de milles efforts, le second espère gravir les marches de la politique, avec l'appui d'un bon réseau. Tous deux, très prometteurs, dans leurs catégories, veulent absolument briller, dans leur pays. C'est alors (au début des années 1950) que Tamizhselvam suggère à son ami, Anandan, de le rejoindre au sein d'un parti régionaliste qui monte et emmené par son charismatique leader, Ayya Vélouthambi (Nasser). En vieux briscard de la politique, Ayya Vélouthambi y voit d'un bon œil l'occasion d'utiliser la notoriété grandissante d'Anandan, pour la vitrine de son mouvement. Il demande dans ce sens, à Tamizhselvam, de rédiger des scénarios qui servent aussi bien Anandan que la cause de leur idéologie. À présent figure incontournable et indispensable de leur courant (au début des années 1960), la star de cinéma (Mohanlal) est dans les petits papiers du fondateur (Nasser), ce qui porte ombrage au stratège (Prakash Raj) et lui fait naitre une pointe de jalousie. Plusieurs années plus tard (en1969), devenu le parti majoritaire, Ayya Vélouthambi décède d'une longue maladie, en plein mandat, laissant le poste vacant, mais aussi, confusions et questions qui vont mettre à mal l'amitié des deux hommes, à rude épreuve aussi bien Anandan que Tamizhselvam. Leur clans et entourage respectifs profitent pour souffler sur les braises de la discorde entre eux, jusqu'à la rupture, au point de non-retour. C'est ainsi qu'Anandan et Tamizhselvam vont prendre chacun leur chemin et s'opposer au sommet avec férocité, pour le poste de ministre en chef de leur pays. Amis encore hier, ils sont aujourd'hui, les pires ennemis...

Inspector Varun Saxena (Vinod Khanna) successfully apprehends Pilot Baba’s (Amrish Puri) son for running over and killing Deodhar (Arun Govil), a fellow police inspector. But Pilot’s wily advocate, Indrajit Diwan (Danny Denzongpa), proves him innocent, and he is set free. When Varun confides of his frustrations with his garage-mechanic friend, Suraj (Sunil Shetty), he decides to study law and assist Varun. Later Varun arrests Suraj for attempting to rape Mrs. Deodhar (Kunika) and is put in prison. Rajashekharan was a a strict officer but weak hearted to woman. He always flirts with nurses and other who are in the camps. Also he was a drunken man and a massive smoker. One day he see Susan on and tries the same. But she don't pay attention to him. Which makes him more intense to her. Later he manages Sunny to convince her. They got married. Rajashekharan was from a royal family, so his family members not much interested with new spouse. When the time passes they gets closer to her. Meanwhile new irritations starts to bud in between new couple. Even after one year they don't have a child. Rajshekharan gets hard to her, she tries to suicide, but survives. He understands his guilty and the story again goes good, they have a baby girl. too. When all are going good some unexpected tragedies blasts the story lines.
