Captain Prabhakaran (Vijaykanth) is an IFS officer sent to Sathyamangalam to nab Veerabhadran (Mansoor Ali Khan (actor)) who tortures the people of that place. Prabhakaran is not only going to nab Veerabhadran but also avenge the death of his friend Rajaraman IFS (Sarathkumar) who was a forest officer killed by Veerabhadran. The Police commissioner and the state collector are corrupt and also support Veerabhadran. In the climax, Veerabhadran kidnaps Prabhakaran's wife and son. Prabhakaran arrives at the right time and saves his wife and son. He then nabs Veerabhadran. Ramya Krishnan was Sarathkumar's lover. She dies while giving birth to his child. Veerabhadran is shot dead by the corrupt inspector and collector. Prabhakaran kills both of them. He is then dragged to court for killing police inspector and collector. Prabhakaran tells the truth that they were corrupt and the film ends with Prabhakaran being released from the court.

Baskar (Gemini Ganesan) and Vasanthi (Saroja Devi) are college mates. A naughty girl creates misunderstanding between them, and an enraged Vasanthi complains to the college dean, who immediately dismisses Baskar. Now left homeless, Baskar however manages to get employed at a Tea Company, and gets to stay with his close friend Sampath (K. A. Thangavelu). Vasanthi approaches Baskar and apologises for her cruel act. Baskar forgives her, and they both fall in love. Vasanthi lives with her mother and her elder sister Geetha (Vijaykumari) who is unmarried. Baskar rents the vacant portion of their house. Over time, Vasanthi passes her exams and gets employed.

Manimaran (Sarath Kumar), his father Poochi (S. V. Ramadas) and his grandfather Nagappan (M. N. Nambiar) are short-tempered persons who beat the villagers for a simple quarrel. Only, Manimaran's mother, Sivagami (Lakshmi) can control them. Uma (Rajeswari), Manimaran's sister, gets married with a man of another village. Manimaran falls in love with Vaidehi (Devayani), a Brahmin girl, and gets married with her without her permission. In a fight against Manimaran, the antagonist becomes a blind in one eye and decides to take revenge on Manimaran. When Manimaran drives his pregnant sister, the antagonist stops him but Manimaran beats the antagonist and his henchmen. Uma comes too late at the hospital and dies with her baby. Vaidehi leaves their house because of her husband's behavior who brings Uma's death. Manimaran changes his behavior and tries to convince Vaidehi to come back home.

King Herod has ruled Judea for over 37 years and believes himself to be supreme. Raj (Gemini Ganesan) meets Shanti (Vyjayanthimala) at a cricket match in Madras, and falls in love with her. Shanti does not reciprocate his love, and leaves to her home place Bangalore. Shanti’s father Sokkalingam (K. A. Thangavelu), a widower, marries Thangam (M. Saroja). They decide to go to Kashmir for their honeymoon, and Shanti also wants to come. Sivalingam, a friend of Sokkalingam suggests an alliance between Shanti and his nephew Raj (M. N. Nambiar) who is now in Madras. Raj has secretly married Lalitha. He ditches Lalitha, when he sees this new alliance and leaves for Bangalore, but misses the train. Just then Raj (Gemini Ganesan) arrives in Bangalore for a different reason, and Sokkalingam misinterprets him as his friend’s nephew. Sokkalingam and wife Thangam leave for Kashmir along with Raj Ganesan and Shanti, who still dislikes Raj Ganesan.

Samundi prepared his sister Rasathi's wedding and he took her to the temple. There, he clashed with some thugs. In the confrontation, Rasathi was pushed in the lake and drowned. The wedding was cancelled and Samundi's family left his village.
