The Big Show is the ninth Our Gang short subject comedy released. The Our Gang series (later known as "The Little Rascals") was created by Hal Roach in 1922, and continued production until 1944.

Synopsis

After being chased away from the county fair, the gang decides to open their own junior version of the fair, complete with wild animal displays, rides, and animal stunts. To top it off, they give a live performance set inside a giant movie frame, and impersonate several popular film stars of the day.

Near West Coast Studios in Hollywood, the gang is waging a street war against a rival group of kids; their ammunition primarily consisting of old vegetables. The battle is halted when Mary is called to act in one of the West Coast films. The rest of the gang tries to crash the studio gates and get a role in the picture, but the casting director throws them out. Farina manages to sneak into the studio, however, prompting the other kids to sneak in after her. Several chases throughout the property then ensue and the gang eventually escapes - with a little help from Harold Lloyd.

A new family moves into town. Mickey immediately falls in love with the family's daughter, Mary, and tries whatever he can to gain her affections. Mickey lives a simple but satisfying life with his Uncle Patrick. His wealthy Aunt Kate petitions and wins custody of Mickey, forcing him to leave his home and his uncle, his friends, and his dog behind. Fighting with his cousin Percy and forced to take daily baths and manicures, Mickey is miserable. He writes a letter to Uncle Pat asking him and the gang to come visit. During their visit the gang destroys the house, including swinging from the chandelier and skating on a liquid soap 'ice rink' in the kitchen. An alarm is sent out, bringing the police, the fire department, an ambulance, and others to the house just as Aunt Kate arrives home. Seeing the destruction and realizing her mistake in bringing Mickey to her home, Aunt Kate asks Uncle Pat to take Mickey back, to both of their delight.

The gang travels by wagon to go on a picnic with their families. After the cart loses a wheel, the parents replace it, only to be left behind when the horse bolts with the wagon and the gang. Arriving in the woods, the gang run wild until their parents catch up with them. A storm interrupts the picnic, after which the horse bolts again, this time leaving everybody behind.

Author Fawn Ochletree (Clara Guiol) stages a charity performance of her latest play, a Romanesque epic. Finally, Jackie sets off a slew of firecrackers as the finale, scaring all involved.
