The film opens with ex-militants describing the torture they underwent when captured by the army. A Hindu describes his sentiment on being a part of the minority in the region at the height of militancy, when his grandfather was shot dead by militants. A politician and her husband describe the horror of being kidnapped and in captivity for over a month – and despite that, forming a human bond with the militants, and helping them escape when the army closed in on them. One understands from this section that militancy was not binary in nature. It was a dynamic and complex, resulting from various socio-political, economic and religious issues.

Ravi Patwardhan, la quarantaine, est monteur de films. Les commandes sont nombreuses et il travaille souvent tard le soir, secondé par Reena, sa sympathique assistante. Il est d'autant moins enclin à retrouver son foyer qu'il y est fraîchement "accueilli". Sa femme, Sheela, est une véritable harpie qui lui reproche aussi bien ce qu'il fait que ce qu'il ne fait pas et le soupçonne, à tort, d'entretenir une liaison avec sa collaboratrice. Un soir, excédé par ces provocations, Ravi gifle sa femme : Sheela heurte le montant du lit en tombant, se brise la nuque et meurt sur le coup. Affolé et craignant que la police ne croie pas à l'accident, il cache le corps puis s'en débarrasse dans une rivière. Mais le cadavre ne tarde pas à réapparaître et l'inspecteur Tejpal Randhawa enquête sur cette mort suspecte. Suivant son flair et son expérience, il découvre petit à petit les incohérences du témoignage de Ravi et ne le lâche plus.

Maj. Siddhant Chaudhary (Rahul Bose) and Maj. Akash Kapoor (Javed Jaffrey) are lawyers in the Indian army and are close friends. The film starts with a proposal of remaking Satyajit Ray's famous Nayak by a debutant director and storywriter Shuvobrata (Indraneil Sengupta) to famous Bengali actor Arun Chatterjee (Prosenjit). Arun approves Shuvobrata's proposal and agrees to finance the project. Shuvobrata requests his live-in girlfriend Srinandita or Shrin (Nandana Sen) to act opposite Arun. In the meantime, Arun and Shrin become close friends and Arun tells her about various incident from his past in an emotionally triggered condition. The exchange is videotaped accidentally and Shuvobrata on discovering it leaks it to the press, without Srinandita's consent, as a publicity stunt for the film. Srinandita leaves Shuvobrata on learning of this indiscretion. Arun, furious about the leak, bars the film from being released. Arun later learns that Shrin had no role in the leak and apologizes to her. The movie ends with Shrin leaving a note and a phone number for Arun at a roadside dhaba where they had met earlier.
