The story is loosely based on Thakazhi's novel 'Enippadikal'.
Prithviraj won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance.

Synopsis
Raghavan Master (Sreeraman), a scion of a high Adiga Brahmin family and an ardent communist, is now in crisis as his Tharavadu is devoid of the fame and fortune it once had. Balachandran Adiga is his only son, who has the burden of looking after his family and his four nubile daughters. He is aware of the difficulties involved in bringing the family back from the brink of nothingness and in marrying off his sisters. Balachandran's eldest sister Shobha does some tailoring and manages a low earning with which the family is kept out of hunger. Balachandran is engaged to Sumithra, his cousin and childhood pal, but in the turn of events, one Thripran Namboodhiri (Salim kumar) comes with an offer to marry his niece to Balachandran, thereby agreeing to make him a secretariat staff and thereby save their sinking family. Sumithra forces Balchandran to risk their dreams for the sake of his family. He is forced to forget his murappennu and childhood playmate Sumitra(Kavya Madhavan) and is compelled to marry Surabhi(Samvrutha Sunil), a girl from a rich family, to tackle the serious economic adversities that his family faces. Notwithstanding the family chaos, Balachandran's younger sister Shubha walks out with Adivasi leader Sreedharan on the day of Balachandran’s marriage, causing irreparable damage to the family reputation, following which his mother dies. Sumithra finally marries a cruel and corrupt police officer who is always doubtful on the character of his wife.Acteurs

Manjadikuru is a story of homecoming from late 1980s, when 10-year-old Vicky arrives at his grandparents home in rural Kerala to attend his grandfather's funeral. The disjointed family gathers together for the sixteen-day-long funeral period. During this period, Vicky discovers more about himself, his family and culture than he had expected to. The journey is narrated through the memories of an adult Vicky who returns to the same house to recount the experience. Josekutty (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a hard-working auto rickshaw driver from a good family. Josekutty falls in love with Jansi, whose sister Nancy is an unwed mother of a boy. Kari Gurukkal, also known as Pulimaranja Thondachan (the great grandfather who turned into tiger), is a folk god of Pulayas, a subaltern community in North Kerala. According to legends, Kari was a master of martial arts and other arts. Envious, the upper caste people ordered him to bring tiger mane and tail to cure the madness of the ruler. For this, he had to take the tiger form and go to the forest. To get his human form back when he returns from the forest, his wife should pour water used for cleaning rice and beat him with broom. But when he returns from the forest, his wife got terrified by his form and fails to do what she was told to do. Unable to take human form, Kari goes back to the forest.

The movie starts with Khaled Muhammad aka Baba(Sharat Saxena) in jail telling one of his henchmen to kill the kerala chief minister Ravi Menon(Murali).Sahadevan(Dileep) is the son of a police constable(Oduvil Unnikrishnan) who works in the dog squad. Sahadevan has only one ambition and that is to join the police department and for that he has cleared the exams and is waiting for the physical test. But he has an enemy, his own brother-in-law Peethambaran(Jagathy Sreekumar) who does not like him.Some of Baba's henchmen with the help of commissioner Gauri shankar(Ashish Vidyarthi) plan to kill the CM by placing a bomb in his room in the hospital when Ravi Menon was unwell.However Sahadevan foils the plan as his dog Arjun sacrifices himself. The blame is put on him by the police commissioner but he is saved by the DGP(Vijayaraghavan). Because the commissioner is aware of Sahadevan's knowings about the bomb plan,he along with Peethambaran deliberately fails him in the physical test. When he finds out who the crooks are, he tries to find a way to foil it and that hope was to become a private detective via his uncle Karamchand(Captain Raju). He becomes a private detective and calls himself CID Moosa,Shortform of Moolamkushiyil Sahadevan. He has a funky car that do different tricks to assist him in evading his enemies. During all of this he falls in love with a girl named Meena (Bhavana).After innumerable attempts,he makes her fall in love with him.Meanwhile,he managed to intercept the first terrorists who planned to place the bomb in the hospital. Gauri in anger destroys Moosa's office saying it doesn't have license.When Moosa goes to the CM for a petition,the CM's car explodes.Moosa is applauded for saving him.Then he kills the second terrorist and gets a Rs.5 lakhs as a reward. Meena then told Moosa that those terrorists were sharing tenants in her house and filed a case to the commissioner not realising that she would be arrested as soon as she reached her flat.the commissioner tries to molest Meena but Moosa intervenes to save her.Later Gauri forces the CM to issue a warrant against Moosa which he reluctantly accepts.On the way home,Ravi Menon sees Baba on the road(he gets released from jail).Moosa meets the CM to prove his innocence but Baba enters to assault the CM and shoots him in his arm.Moosa takes the CM to safety in his cars and uses the different tricks and devices in his car to evade the police.Then he gets intercepted by Gauri and Baba but kills them using his wits and a little help from his dog.The CM is saved and now Moosa is sent to Scotland to solve bigger cases.

Following a tip from a small time lodge owner (Sadique), the ATS conducts a search at the rooms where a group of suspicious youths stayed. Baba Kalyani IPS (Mohanlal), the head of ATS M3 division finds certain vital clues, which he wants to follow after. Upon the permission from Bose Ninan (Venu Nagavally), the IG of police, Baba Kalyani takes arrives in Kochi. He is posted in Law & Order department as undercover with Godwin Joseph (Biju Menon) and a couple of ATS officers assisting him. All his men were newly inducted IPS officers. At Kochi, Kalyani clashes with advocate Ashokan (Murali) and Advocate Madhumitha (Mamta Mohandas), his daughter, who was his ex-girlfriend. A bundle of counterfeit currency is found at a local bank, which was transferred from the account of a charity organization run by Sait Isra Mohammed Haji(Saikumar), a respected businessman. Baba Kalyani reaches out the residence of Isra Mohammed at the same night, Isra denies any knowledge about any hawala dealings in the state. The cash was transferred from the account by Babur (Indrajith Sukumaran), Isra Mohammed's son-in-law, who is also a college lecturer. Babu is king-pin of a terror organization in the state. He along with a bunch of young men had secretly undergone Jihadi training in Pakistan and is planning a massive explosion. But unaware of this, Isra supports him thinking Babu is a normal college lecturer busy with his own life. One morning Isra arrives at Baba Kalyani's residence informing about a group of suspicious young men recently seen at the nearby mosque. He also adds that the Muslyar of the mosque has some doubts regarding their activities. Baba Kalyani, along with Godwin and their group conducts a raid at the house and gathers vital information. The house gets exploded, signing the storage of inflammable explosives. Baba Kalyani, from the prints, maps and photographs concludes that their next target is Palani, a divine pilgrimage center in South India. He arrives at Palani along with his team, where meets up Raghupathi (Siddique), the IG of Tamil Nadu police. With the support of local police, Baba seize the trucks in which the explosives were stored. Baba sends Isra Mohammed as a negotiator to Babu who was hiding along with a group of Jihadis. But unwilling to give up the plan,Babu decides to shoot down Isra. The ATS team conducts a commando operation and shoots down the jihadis aborting their plan.
