Zakhmee is a 1975 Hindi movie. Produced by Tahir Hussain the film is directed by Raja Thakur. The film stars Sunil Dutt, Asha Parekh, Rakesh Roshan, Reena Roy, Tariq, Helen, Johnny Walker, Iftekhar, and Agha. The film's music is by Bappi Lahiri. The film did "above average" business at the box office.[1]

Synopsis

On the night of his marriage to Asha (Asha Parekh), Anand (Sunil Dutt) is arrested for allegedly murdering his business partner, and held in prison until his trial takes place. Anand refuses to say anything in his favor, thus leading his lawyer to conclude that Anand did commit this homicide. Refusing to believe that their brother could murder, his brothers, Amar and Pawan (Rakesh Roshan and Tariq respectively) kidnap Judge Ganguly's (Iftekhar) only daughter, Nisha (Reena Roy), in order to force the judge to find Anand not guilty, with disastrous results.

Ravi Kant (Sunil Dutt) is a doctor who lives in New York with his wife Anuradha (Smita Patil), also a doctor. Anuradha is doing research into leukemia. Ravi is nostalgic about India and decides to return there when he receives an offer for a position as the head of surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital in Bombay. Anuradha wants to continue her research and does not want to go to India. Ravi returns to India after a divorce with Anuradha. Anuradha discovers that she is pregnant with Ravi's child but Ravi is unaware of the fact. In India, while treating one of his patients Bhardwaj, he meets his daughter Asha (Reena Roy). Just before his death, Bhardwaj is promised by Ravi that he will marry Asha. Asha and Ravi are married. Asha dies while giving birth to their daughter (Khushboo). Soon after Khushboo's eleventh birthday, she is diagnosed with leukemia. On a recommendation from a fellow doctor at Tata Memorial, Ravi takes her to a hospital in New York where Anuradha is her doctor. To cure her cancer, Khushboo must have a bone marrow transplant from a donor with matching blood group and genes. Shashi (Anuradha's son) is found to have a perfect match and he donates the marrow. Ravi discovers that Shashi is the son of him and Anuradha. In the final scene, everyone comes together at the airport when Ravi, Khusboo and Shashi are coming to India. Anuradha joins them as well.

Rani, a young girl is being brought up by her mother while her father is studying abroad. They live in her abusive uncle's house. Her best friend Pappu tells her about Lalpari. After watching the plane carrying her father crash, her mother dies out of shock. Rani decides to go to heaven to bring her mother back. She succeeds to reach heaven with the help of Lalpari and manages to trick Yamraj (God of truth and death). However Rani's father was only injured in the plane crash. Rani lives happily after with her parents.

Seema is the only child of widowed Mohan, who is adopted by Mohan's boss, Sardar Ranjit Singh, who has no heir to his estate, as his daughter, Jamuna, eloped with a poor peasant, Gopal. Years later, Seema has now grown up and meets with a young man named Pyarelal in Ooty. She meets him a year later, but this time he introduces himself as Jhatpat Singh, a man she was supposedly engaged to in their childhood. Shortly thereafter she meets with the real Jhatpat Singh, and changes her mind about the fake Jhatpat Singh alias Pyarelal. Now Sunil knows that he was adopted and understands that he was the lost son of Gopal. He goes to Sardar Ranjit Singh and appoints to be an estate manager. There he meets Seema again and they rekindle their romance. By that time, planning to steal away property, Shankar sends his son as the lost son of Jamuna and Gopal. Ranjit Singh believes him and wants to marry seema to Shankar's son. After some misunderstandings, family finally reunites and Jamuna's sanity returns. Movie ends with the marriage of Seema and Sunil/Sunder.
