Ardeshir Irani était un scénariste, réalisateur, producteur, acteur, directeur de la photographie et distributeur de l'ère silencieuse et sonore du cinéma indien. Il a acquis une renommée pour sa réalisation en hindi, anglais, allemand, indonésien, persian, urdu et tamil. Il fut un entrepreneur très connu qui devint propriétaire de plusieurs salles de cinéma, une agence de gramophone et de voiture.

The movie is about Golnar, a young teahouse girl who was kidnapped as a child and taken to Lorestan with a clan of bandits living among the Lors. The leader of the thieves, Gholi Khan, is beginning to look at her with interest now she is a grown woman. At the teahouse, she meets a young man called Jafar who has been sent to Lorestan by the Iranian government to deal with the problem of banditry in the area. They fall in love, and plan to escape together. Gholi Khan catches on to their plans and beats up Jafar. Jafar rejects Khan's offer to join the bandits, so he is kidnapped and imprisoned. Golnar helps him escape and the couple attempt to flee.

Kisan Kanya was based on a novel by Saadat Hasan Manto and focussed on the plight of poor farmers. The story revolved on the life of a poor peasant Ram (Nisar) who was being ill-treated by his landlord Ghani. Dans la première scène du film, nous voyons Ferdowsi qui par la fenêtre de sa maison regarde tristement le pont ruiné de la ville de Tus. À la cour du sultan Mahmoud Ghaznavi, Ferdowsi récite certaines parties de Shah Nameh. La vieillesse du poète est la fin de son histoire et se passe dans l’isolement et l’amertume. De temps en temps, il entend par sa fenêtre les enfants chanter ses vers de Shah Nameh. La scène finale est celle de sa mort : deux hommes portent son cercueil, et derrière eux seule la fille du poète les suit, larmes à l’œil.

Duryodhana (Jagdish Sethi) plots to attain Hastinapur for himself and his hundred Kaurava brothers. The five Pandavas brothers are sent to exile during which time Arjuna (Prithviraj Kapoor wins Draupadi (Ermeline) at her swayamvara. According to his mother's unintentional suggestion, the five brothers share Draupadi as their wife. On their return from banishment, the Pandavas establish themselves at Indraprastha. The Rajasuya Yagna takes place and a game of dice follows. The Kauravas cunning uncle Shakuni (Hadi) helps them win the game, wherein the Pandavas first lose their Kingdom, and then as a last wager by the oldest brother Yudhishtra, even Draupadi. When Duryodhan, with the intention of shaming the Pandavas tries to remove Draupadi's sari, it is Lord Krishna who saves her from humiliation by performing the miracle of a never-ending sari.

Vidhyadhari is the daughter of Vijayavarman, the king of Thejavathi. His minister wants the princess to marry his son but she refuses. Annoyed, the minister sets out to find another potential husband for Vidhyadhari. In the forest, the minister finds an illiterate cowman sitting in a tree and cutting into the branch on which he is sitting. The minister persuades the cowman to come to the palace and has Vidhyadhari marry him. When Vidhyadhari realises she has been cheated and is married to a farmhand, she prays to the goddess Kali for a remedy. Kali appears before her, names her husband "Kalidas" and endows him with phenomenal literary talents.
