C. V. Balakrishnan (born 1952) is a Malayalam-language novelist, short story writer, essayist and scenarist from the south Indian state of Kerala. His novels and short stories encompass the emotional issues related to mass culture, sexual politics, fate of the marginalised and institutionalised religions. An author of more than 40 literary works along with a few film scripts and film criticisms, his best known work is the novel Ayussinte Pusthakam (Book of Life). He received the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2000 for the novel Atmavinu Sariyennu Thonnunna Karyangal.

Biographie

Balakrishnan was born in Payyannur, Kannur district, Kerala. After completing his school education, he took training in teaching and worked in various schools before shifting to Calcutta in 1979 where he worked as a freelance journalist. It was in Calcutta he began writing Ayussinte Pusthakam.

Balakrishnan is married to Pathmavathi and has two children: Nandan and Nayana. He resides in Kalikkadavu village, Kasargod district, Kerala.

The film revolves around Ajayan (Dileep), a clerk at a lawyer's office. Ajayan had an intercast marriage with Safia (Priyanka Nair) long ago. Kaimal and Susheela are leading a troubled married life. The latter is unsatisfied with the ignorance from her husband. Susheela, a mother of two children, indulges in a physical relation with a car mechanic named Giri. On an unfortunate day, she elopes with Giri to start a new life. After the incident, Kaimal is harassed by many of his friends and colleagues. Balan, a friend of Kaimal, helps him to get a relief. Balan tries to bring back Susheela, who was still having an unsatisfied life with Giri, to Kaimal's life. He arranges a meeting between Susheela and Kaimal in a beach. But, they found Kaimal dead after being stabbed by himself with a knife.
