Candy Davis (born Clare Damaris Bastin on 2 January 1962) is an English actress and model.

She won the Miss Nude pageant in 1982 and subsequently took on the role as the buxom blonde secretary, Miss Belfridge, on the last two series of the British sitcom Are You Being Served?. She was one of several British Page 3 glamour models to take either this role or as nurse to "young" Mr Grace. She appeared in Minder in the episode "Rembrandt Doesn't Live Here Anymore" (1982).

Biographie

Daughter of an education officer and a school headmistress, Candy Davis was born in Loughton in 1962.

Candy married the 2point4 children actor Gary Olsen in 1985, and they later divorced.

She appeared on television in a variety of popular shows of the 1980s, notably in The Comic Strip series, though not as a regular. Candy was in a memorable 1981 episode of Minder as an eye-catching blonde. However she shot to fame after winning the role of blonde bombshell Miss Belfridge in the hugely popular BBC sitcom Are You Being Served? The show regularly pulled in high viewing figures and she was a hit with fans, appearing in thirteen episodes in the last two series of the show.

She went on to appear in several episodes of Electric Blue, in the mid-1980s although these appearances were fleeting and limited to guest presenter for outdoor segments.

Candy featured in the controversial music video for Mick Jagger's song Rocky Horror. The video was banned however as the scenes of sex and violence were considered too outrageous for the BBC at the time (1983). Candy was 21. She also appeared dancing in the music video for ABC's dance track Poison Arrow. She continued to model for Page 3 and topless magazine interviews.

Contrary to gossip, Candy did not go on to work at a University. She now uses the name Clare Dunkel, and is the sole director of Rilke Ltd. She lives near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
