DeRay Davis (born Antoine DeRay Davis in Chicago, Illinois) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. DeRay began his career in comedy clubs. In 2015 he starred opposite Taraji P. Henson's "Cookie Lyon's" as her hit man/cousin "Jermel" in seasons 1 and 2 of FOX's "Empire" and currently (2015) in production in his series regular role "Jerome Saint" on FX's pilot "Snowfall" created and directed by John Singleton. Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, He won the Comedy Central Laugh Riots Competition and was a standout on the Budweiser Def Comedy Jam Competition. Best known for what can only be described as "The Samuel E. Jackson formula" by starring in multiple featured and prominent roles back to back year after year opposite Hollywood Heavy Hitters - i.e. the role of "Spooner" in John Carpenter's own remake of "The Fog" in 2005, "License to Wed" opposite John Krasinski, "Semi Pro" opposite Will Ferrell, "Imagine That" opposite Eddie Murphy, "Life as We Know It" opposite Katherine Heigl, 21 Jump Street opposite Channing Tatum and Johnny Depp . Davis' television roles and appearances have included programs such as "Reno 911", BET's ComicView, Empire, MTV's Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out and Short Circuitz, MTV2's Hip Hop Squares and HBO's Entourage. In 2014, Davis began hosting his first game show, Mind of a Man, on Game Show Network. In 2015 Davis is currently Hosting "Joking Off" on MTV2. In 2011 his one hour Showtime Comedy Special "DeRay Davis: Power Play" aired to rave reviews and set the tone for his next one hour comedy special currently in preparation - Home, Street Home: The Hood Hero Returns.
The comedian also sounds on several skits on rapper Kanye West's albums The College Dropout and Late Registration, mostly impersonating Bernie Mac, and also appeared in West's music video for "Through the Wire.
