Jyothi Lakshmi is an Indian film actress who has appeared in more than 300 movies. In the early 70's, she was well noted for her leading roles and songs in movies. She also has acted in female-oriented movies and is a trained dancer. She predominantly works in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies. In the early 80's her popularity gradually declined due to her sister Jayamalini's entry into the movie industry. Her debut was in the film 'Periya Idathu Penn' in 1963.

The movie begins at Pachai Theevu, ruled by a mighty king (Narasimha Raju). His son and prince Jagathalapradhapan (Raja) is a valourous youth who sets out on a mission to capture pirates in the sea. Hari (Shashank) is a junkie with enough rage to cause heat waves on Pluto. Marumalarchi is about Mammooty is the centre figure of 38 patti the man of honour who has dedicated his life for the welfare of the village people. He is so respected that the people even erect his statue. In the crowded fair (sandhai) Mammooty pulls Devayani's hand to save her from an approaching cobra.
