Peter McKenzie is an actor who is best known for his portrayal as Elendil in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. He also appeared in Jackson's King Kong.
His son, Bret, is a member of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, and also appears as an unnamed Elf (popularly known as Figwit) in The Fellowship of the Ring, and The Return of the King.
He is also an owner and trainer of racehorses, including "Sculptor" who won the 2007 Saab Quality at Flemington and qualified to run in the 2007 Melbourne Cup.

Dans les années 1930 à New York lors de la Grande Dépression, Ann Darrow, une jeune comédienne de vaudeville se retrouve au chômage après la fermeture de son théâtre. Parallèlement, un réalisateur ambitieux et mafieux, Carl Denham envisage de tourner un film d'aventure sur une île légendaire située dans l'océan Indien, après être entré en possession d'une carte mentionnant son existence. Mais les producteurs insatisfaits des premières prises de vue et du coût engendré, décident d'annuler la production. Carl décide alors de fuir en volant les bobines de film et charge son jeune assistant Preston, de préparer le départ le soir-même. Mais Preston lui annonce que l'actrice qui devait tenir le rôle a quitté l'équipe au dernier moment. Carl se dépêche alors de trouver une actrice correspondant à ses attentes avant ce soir. Il remarque Ann qui cherchait du travail avant qu'elle ne se fasse surprendre en train de voler une pomme. Carl intervient et lui évite des ennuis. Il lui offre un repas et lui explique qu'il recherche une actrice pour tourner une idylle romantique et aventurière sur un bateau en mentant cependant sur un point, que le film se tournera à Singapour. Au début, Ann refuse mais quand Carl annonce que le scénario sera écrit par Jack Driscoll, un auteur de pièces de théâtre connu qu'Ann admire par-dessus tout, elle accepte le rôle. Le soir, sur le quai où est accosté le navire Venture, Carl presse son commandant le capitaine Englehorn d'appareiller car il sait que des hommes en uniforme vont bientôt l'arrêter. Ann, inquiète, embarque finalement avec le reste de l'équipe, y compris le narcissique Bruce Baxter, le comédien du film. Carl retrouve Jack Driscoll sur le navire pour qu'il lui remette le script mais n'ayant fait qu'une ébauche, insiste pour que Jack l'accompagne pour le tournage. Ce dernier est cependant pressé de partir mais Carl lui annonce qu'il va le payer (chose qu'il ne fait jamais) et fait exprès de s'embrouiller dans les chiffres en rédigeant le chèque alors que le navire est sur le point de larguer les amarres. Jack tente tout de même de quitter le bateau mais trop tard : le Venture a déjà quitté le port au moment même où les producteurs et la police arrivent sur le quai.

Sur la Terre du Milieu, dans la paisible région de la Comté, vit le Hobbit Frodon Sacquet. Comme tous les Hobbits, Frodon est un bon vivant, amoureux de la terre bien cultivée et de la bonne chère. Le jour de ses 111 ans, Bilbon donne une fête grandiose à laquelle est convié le puissant magicien Gandalf le Gris. C'est en ce jour particulier que Bilbon décide de se retirer chez les Elfes pour y finir sa vie. Il laisse en héritage à Frodon son trou de Hobbit ainsi qu'un anneau, qu'il a autrefois trouvé dans la caverne d'une créature nommée Gollum dans les Monts Brumeux, et qui a le pouvoir de rendre invisible quiconque le porte à son doigt.

In the year of 1193, Richard the "Lionheart", King of England, led the third Great Crusade to reclaim the Holy Land from the Turks. After the battle, on their return home to England, Richard and his Knights are captured by the forces of Austria's Emperor, and held prisoners of war in the castle of Austria. In the castle dungeon, the knights are being tortured to tell the Austrians the location of King Richard's treasure. But the knights reply "there is no treasure". The guards don't believe them. Then one of the English knights, Tancred, tells the head-guard that they do have one treasure that all of England will pay for - "King Richard" himself! The head-guard understands what he means - "a ransom". Tancred agrees to return to England, to collect the ransom, telling the guard that Richard's brother Prince John will pay dearly for the king's freedom. The guard orders Tancred to tell the prince to raise "100,000 gold crowns", he tells him that when the Austrians have them, King Richard and his Knights will be free and have their passage home. He gives Tancred three months, if he didn't get the ransom in time, the Austrians would start killing his fellow knights. Of course, the knight chained close to Tancred believed the part about Prince John paying for King Richard's ransom to be false. The knight's name - Ivanhoe! As the guards were releasing Tancred to return to England, and looking the other way, Ivanhoe saw a sword close to him, kicked it into the air, and grabbed it. The head-guard looked back, and rushed over to Ivanhoe, but he stabbed him, and freed himself. One of the other knights told Ivanhoe release him too. But the other knights warned Ivanhoe of the guards coming. As the two knights fought their way out, they said that Prince John will never pay Richard's ransom, and that Tancred will betray them all. Then one of the guards held a cross-bow, and shot the brave knight in the chest. He told Ivanhoe, "King Richard must be ransomed! England must be saved! Go, Ivanhoe! Go!" So, Ivanhoe killed the guard, and ran out the door.
