Artist traces the journey of two artists — Michael Agnelo (Fahadh Faasil), son of a Goan businessman, and Gayatri (Ann Augustine), who hails from a conservative Brahmin family. Gayatri shocks her parents by choosing to study Arts in college, then decides to drop out of college and start living with Michael, an eccentric genius with a promising career. Their new life together does not eradicate her isolation, and as Michael wraps further layers of self-centeredness around the cocoon that he has built for himself, Gayatri looks around for ways to keep her passion for him intact. Gayathri is barely out of her teens when she starts working to support her partner even though she does not get even emotional support from him. Her woes increase when Michael loses his eyesight in a road accident. The challenges of the ungrateful Michael who struggles to transform his artistry on the canvas and how the youngsters tackle egoism, selfishness and their artistic demands form the crux of the story.

The story takes place in a remote village where the majority of the people are Christians. Solomon (Dileep), the son of GeeVarghese sexton (Vijayaraghavan), a simple soul who is quiet in nature and fears virtually everything around, thus earning the nickname Kunjaadu (little lamb). His mother, Mary (Vinaya Prasad),was Ittichan's (Innocent) (a rich landlord) crush. He named his daughter Mary (Bhavana) after Solomon's mother. He wanted Solomon to love his daughter dearly and then he would marry her to some other person so that he gets to know the pain that he felt when he lost his lover. He promises the church that he will give another cross made out of gold to the church if Solomon marries some other girl but if he wants to marry his daughter then Solomon must give a cross to church. Mary (Bhavana) has been in love with Solomon right from their childhood days. Meanwhile, a man (Biju Menon) with rugged looks comes to Solomon's house and Solomon, who is overjoyed at getting some fearless company, gets the man accepted by his whole family under the guise that he is his long-lost brother Jose. He does so much for the family and gets involved in agriculture and develops the families living. Later, Solomon finds that there is more to his so-called brother than he thought initially,where he has killed a girl and was imprisoned for 7 years. Finally he finds that Jose has stolen the cross and hid it in Solomon's land 7 years ago and came again to take it. Solomon warns his family that even if is their brother, he should be watched or else he'll burn down the house. Their parents don't take it seriouly but later when the family is away, Jose burns the house down and everyone thinks it is Solomon who did it. Solomon later finds out that Jose's old friend who also wants the golden cross was the one who killed the girl, who was Jose's wife. A fight occurs between Solomon and both the thieves. Jose's friend get smashed down and rings the church bell telling that he got cross and saves Jose by telling that he was the one who help him capture the thief, and because Solomon always considered him as a brother. everyone becomes happy and Ittichan gives his daughter's hand to Solomon.

Viswanatha Paniker (Mammootty) is a corrupted Panchayat president of Thazhe Keezhppadam grama panchayath in Kuttanad for 25 years. He earns a lot of wealth through his corruption and by cornering his village people to hand over their lands to him. But he never acquires in his name, instead he gives them to his relatives. He has also been nicknamed 'America' for his tricky ways to play the big brother and thereby getting control over the issues where he gets involved. Loknath Naidu (Sai Kumar) takes over the reins of rural political power from a dying man, Dasaradha Rama Naidu (Balayya). On his death bed, Dasaradha Rama Naidu requests Loknath to marry his widowed daughter-in-law whose husband was murdered by rival political group. Loknath complies. His stepson is Mitra (Sharwanand) and his own son is Chinna (Sundeep Kishan). While Mitra is a devoted and loving son to Loknath, his step daughter has always hated him for marrying their mother and severs ties with them. Loknath wants to see Mitra as his heir because Mitra is a thinking man whereas Chinna is hot-blooded guy with bad life style. Chinna develops loathing towards Mitra because he receives lesser attention than Mitra from his father and is constantly discouraged by his father from entering politics. Mitra's sister's sister-in-law is the love interest of Mitra. Chinna gets upset on learning that Mitra is the new youth president of the party. That night, he gets high on drugs and sodomizes Basha's daughter. Mitra wants to punish Chinna for the act he has done. Chinna tries to get Mitra killed in a movie theater, but Mitra escapes. Chinna then kills Mitra's sister and her husband.

A container packed with fake currency is stopped at the check post by Thomas Kurien, an honest senior customs officer along with Rajath Naidu, the city commissioner of police. But he is shocked to find out that Rajat Naidu himself is a part of the gang, who shoots down Kurien to save himself. A few months later, Gyanashekhara Varma (Murali), IG of vigilance makes a controversial press conference, in which he alleges the role of hawala transactions in the sudden rise in the crimes in the state. His statements were directly pointed at seniors in the state cabinet and police department. Varma is summoned by the chief minister in the presence of John Vargeese (Siddique), Rajya Sabha MP, and is warned of serious actions, unless he gives a proper explanation in the next couple of days. Instead of falling in lines of CM, Varma threatens him of further revelations in coming days. The next morning Varma is found dead in his bedroom. John Vargeese, an MP with strong foreign relations is also involved in several hawala dealings taking place in the state including terror activities. Senior police office Chandrashekhar IPS (Suresh Gopi)is appointed to solve the mystery of Varma's death. Chandrasekhar is assisted by Joseph Pothen (Saikumar) and Sudev Sachidanand. In the mean time, Suhara Ahmed (Gopika), a young journalist along with her friend Kishore is found missing. She is believed to have certain sensational information regarding minister Vakkachan (Rajan P. Dev). Chandrasekhar meets Vivekam Ahmed Sahib (Janardhanan), her father, who leads him to the personal computer of Suhara, which sheds light to certain truths. One day, Suhara is found in midst of a forest, critically wounded. Chandrasekhar gets her hospitalized, but her life is targeted many times. Chandrasekhar finds out shocking information regarding the anti-national activities of Vakachan along with John Vargeese from the video tapes of Suhara. Vakkachan is forced to resign from the cabinet and is arrested by Chandrasekhar, who then follows John Vargeese. He follows Vargeese to the sea port, from where he is planning to escape to Turkey. But, just minutes before he leaves coast, Vargeese is stopped by Chandrasekhar, who also finds out that his subordinate Sudev Sachidanand is none other than Musafir, an ISI agent who is also the murderer of Varma and Kishore, the friend of Suhara. Chandrasekhar shoots down both Musafir and John Vargeese.
