Shonali Nagrani (born 20 December 1981 in Delhi, India) is a entertainment television presenter, notably hosting the IPL. Along with the IPL, she has also appeared in Hindi language films. She entered the Femina Miss India pageant in 2003 and subsequently finished first runner-up, allowing her to compete in Miss Earth. Alongside appearances as a model, Nagrani has hosted the IPL, and has presented the show for four consecutive years, making her the first woman Indian presenter to host a worldwide broadcast TV show.
Shonali Nagrani hails from a Sindhi Punjabi family in Delhi. She studied at Good Shepherd English School in Bengdubi, Bagdogra and Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. She graduated from the Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi in 1997. Nagrani's family also consists of a military background, as her father is a retired Indian Navy officer. In 2013, she married her boyfriend Shiraz Bhattacharya in Kerala.

Surinder Sahni, employé consciencieux de la Compagnie d'électricité du Punjab, est invité par un de ses anciens professeurs au mariage de sa fille, Taani. Le très raisonnable mais très ennuyeux Surinder est immédiatement conquis par la joie et la vivacité de la jeune femme. Apprenant la mort accidentelle du futur marié, le vieux professeur a une attaque cardiaque. À l'agonie et craignant de laisser sa fille seule, il fait promettre à Surinder et à Taani de se marier. Le mariage a lieu à la hâte, et le jeune couple s'installe dans la modeste maison de Surinder dans la banlieue d'Amritsar. Celui-ci, sans oser le lui dire, est très amoureux de sa jeune épouse mais n'est pas payé en retour.
