The Woman Who Brushed Off Her Tears is a multilingual film directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska and produced by Labina Mitevska, Danijel Hocevar, Marcel Lenz, Sébastien Delloye, Diana Elbaum.

Synopsis

The storyline of the film revolves around the lives of two women (mothers) — coming from two different social background. The first mother is a Western woman, lives in France after tragic death of her son. The other woman comes from a patriarchal society. She lives with her father Ismail. The first woman has lost interest about life and wants to die, but the second woman is desirous to live.

Pour avoir voulu défendre une jeune fille (Victoria Abril) accusée de vol, un comédien (Richard Berry) se retrouve en prison. Embarqué malgré lui dans une tentative d'évasion, il est condamné par un tribunal particulièrement incompétent qui suit sans réfléchir les plaidoiries d'un avocat général débordant de zèle ! Une fois incarcéré, le pauvre comédien doit compter avec les harcèlements de l'un des gardiens (Richard Bohringer), une espèce de dangereux sociopathe frustré de la vie.

The story is set in Madrid in the late 1940s early 1950s during the first years of Franco’s regime. Pedro Martín, a young ambitious doctor, is studying the effect of cancerous cells on mice, but he has run out of mice in his laboratory, since they do not breed there, and he has no funds to purchase more of these expensive laboratory animals from the United States. Nevertheless, his assistant, Amador, informs him that he gave some of the mice to an old trapper, nicknamed "el Muecas", who lives in precarious conditions in a shanty town outside Madrid, and that this poor man has successfully bred them with the help of the natural heat of his daughters. The incredulous scientist goes to the shanty town to obtain the mice. There, Pedro meets Muecas, Muecas's wife Ricarda and their two daughters Florita and Conchi. With the warmth of the women’s breasts, as the flirtatious Florita shows Pedro, the mice are able to reproduce.

Un homme humble parcourt l'Estrémadure avec son fils, Eleuterio Sánchez, mieux connu sous le nom de El Lute. Il vole des poulets et est condamné à six mois de prison.
