A Daughter of the Wolf is a 1919 American silent drama film directed by Irvin Willat and written by Marion Fairfax and Hugh Pendexter. The film stars Lila Lee, Elliott Dexter, Clarence Geldart, Raymond Hatton, Richard Wayne, and Minnie Devereaux. The film was released on June 22, 1919, by Paramount Pictures.

Jenny Lawrence part pour l'Ouest à la recherche de son oncle, sans savoir qu'il a été tué par des Indiens et que "Black" Brown, un bandit qui attaque les diligences, a usurpé son nom pour se protéger de la loi. Quand Jenny arrive à Strawberry Flats, elle réalise ce qui se passe, mais elle se retrouve forcée d'accepter la protection que lui offre Brown, la seule autre possibilité étant le saloon. Peu à peu, ils tombent amoureux l'un de l'autre et Jenny le pousse à s'amender. Toutefois, l'attrait du passé est trop grand pour Brown, qui décide d'attaquer une dernière diligence, attaque au cours de laquelle il est capturé par une milice. Malgré la plaidoirie de Jenny, Brown est condamné à la pendaison. À bout d'arguments, Jenny déterre des vêtements de poupée et redemande la libération de Brown, en prétendant qu'il est le père de son enfant. Il est libéré et ils sont mariés par le shérif. Plus tard, la ruse est découverte, mais les habitants de la ville acceptent leur défaite avec bonne humeur.

As described in a film magazine, Marie Dubois (Reed), deserted by her lover before the birth of her child, marries Flambon (French), who is cruel and heartless. When her daughter Claudine (Hope) reaches womanhood, Flambon forces her to sing in his cafe and then endeavors her to marry one of his creditors. Marie interferes and Flambon takes hold of her by the throat. Claudine, fearing for her mother's safety, kills him. She is arrested and taken before the grand prosecutor, who discovers that Claudine is really his own child. During the trial he enforces the same rigidity which have characterized his other trials, but in the end confesses that he is the girl's father, resigns his position, and places himself at the mercy of the public. He is allowed to go free and solemnly promises to make up to his wife and daughter what they have missed.

The film is based on Zane Grey's 1923 novel of two brothers, one an honest cowpoke, the other a gambler. When Adam Larey (Jack Holt) confronts his younger brother Guerd (James Mason) about his gambling addiction, the latter is accidentally shot.
